About Edmund Community House
We will have a room available May 1st for $585. We're a house of students and professionals living as friends in our beautiful, furnished, huge, up-dated Victorian house filled with antiques, hardwood floors, tin ceilings and sunshine in St. Paul, 3 blocks for the Greenline. The address is 1022 Edmund Ave. St. Paul 55104. When we are not working or studying, we like to do things together, like biking, hiking, camping, hiking, cooking, dining together, playing games, putting puzzles together and any other fun thing people can come up with.
The house is an old, updated Victorian that we all help to keep clean: each person has a weekly cleaning chore that takes about an hour to do, (e.g., vacuuming the main floor, cleaning one of the bathrooms, etc.) or can opt out by adding $60/month to the rent. we also have a couple of yard work days in the fall and spring, and help shovel snow in the winter.
We also follow a few "rules:" We take our shoes off at the front door and put them in the trunk under the stairs, or take them to our bedrooms. Everyone takes a weekly turn wiping out a bath sink and sweeping the kitchen floor. In the kitchen, we wash, dry and put away our dishes right after we eat. We also wipe down the stove top, countertops and table; any surface we have touched during food prep, and eating we clean. We eat only in the kitchen and dining room we do not eat in our bedroom. We each vacuum our bedroom at least every other week, and we clean up after ourselves in the bathroom. Understanding that our world has a limited amount of resources and space, we try to use resources like water and electricity judiciously, and we recycle and compost everything we can. In order to maintain privacy, we don't allow overnight guests, unless they are visiting from out of town.
You'd be sharing the house with Victor, a phd student in water resource management; Josh, a mechanical engineer, Nicole who works in finance, and me, the home owner.
We're looking for someone who wants to commit to a weekly household meeting/activity night for an hour or two, someone who wants to interact with us, not simply rent a room and someone who would enjoy sharing a home with an Aussidoodle, a Cocker Spaniel and a cat. The animals hang out on the main floor and basement and shed very little.
