The original structure that you see from Walnut Street was constructed in 1888, with the now gymnasium/auditorium building added in 1918, this is a two and three story brick school house located in the historic Walnut Hills neighborhood. As early as 1971, crowded conditions and changing neighborhood needs, placed Windsor Elementary on a list of schools that should be replaced or closed. The last student attendance was in June 2004. Core Redevelopment is scheduled to complete construction by the end of 2016. The two school buildings will be redeveloped into 44 luxury apartment homes. Planned for the now empty southern parcel of land, will be a newly constructed three story building that will house 48 additional flats.
