About The Co-op UCHA
OPEN TO ALL FULL-TIME STUDENTS (NOT JUST UCLA) Dorm-style Housing Quarterly Leases Student-run High Savings Food and Utilities Included (via Internal Dining Hall) Full-time students only Student Co-living COVID-19 Safety Policies uchaonline.com Our purpose is to provide affordable, quality housing to the UCLA academic community (and beyond), emphasizing the social welfare of members before profit. Further goals include the education of members, staff and community about co-operativism, the exemplification of democratic, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory living, and further expansion of membership and facilities whenever prudent. Life at the co-op is HUGELY DIFFERENT than any other student living arrangement. The communal dining, the chore shifts, the special projects, the committees, the social events, and the many common areas all combine to offer countless opportunities to connect with the other several hundred of your fellow members. We are able to keep our costs low because every member is responsible for performing one four-hour chore shift per week. The types of chore shifts available include: maintenance, kitchen, administration, mail handling, gardening, tech support, security, social events, governance, and many other specialties often proposed by individual members. Members commonly move from one type of chore shift to another from one quarter to the next. In addition, members must take turns cleaning their bathroom and must do additional 4 hours on some kind of project or projects any time during the quarter. "Project" can be anything that enhances life at the co-op, either physically, aesthetically, emotionally, or socially. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
