The Kirstein Building is located on 25 Bittner Street, Rochester, New York and is a six-story, brick, mill-type constructed building. Rochester is known for having a long-standing relationship with the field of optics. The historic Kirstein building, is no different. It was constructed in 1909 to serve as Shur-On Optical Company's corporate headquarters. During the 1950's, Shur-On was the largest independent optical manufacturer in the country. Over the decades, it's taken on many additions and modifications, until becoming the building you see now, a six-story triangular building of yellow brick.
