This place is pretty nice during spring/summer. But I don't think it's worth it anytime else. I must say my experience with the staff is superior - very nice and seem to care. On the sad side, it's taking forever for them to fix broken drawers, toilets and so forth. For a while our living room was a fishbowl because the blinds were almost non-existent. The ones they installed hardly work. We have to manually force each slat to open and close them. They advertised a hot tub which was broken when I arrived and then they decided to take it out when they redid the pool. I did some work for the owner at his property. He has a gorgeous, nicely furnished house, where he is still improving the land. When I saw his deluxe rock-sided hot tub, I thought to myself, "how ironic..." It seems as though this place makes its money because of its location. ...

When I showed up the bathroom was covered with mold. Our refrigerator broke during the first semester. There were lots of other similar problems, and for every one I had to threaten to report the apartment to BYU housing before they did anything. The only good thing about this apartment is its location. And I was actually there from fall 08 to winter 09, so I doubt that much has changed. I rented from fall '07 through winter '08. ...

Honestly, this place is dumpy. Its old, the parking sucks, and the rooms are tiny. I pretty much felt like I was sleeping on top of my roommate. The hot tub never worked and all the apartments smell really bad. The good parts are the location and bishopric...everything else is pretty lame. I rented from fall '08 through fall '08. ...

The Elms was a decent place to live. The apartments are really dark and if you live in the W-building there is no central heating or air conditioning. So, we paid an exorbiant price for our utilities to live in a freezing apartment. However, I believe they are switching to a flat rate for the utilities this upcoming semester, so that may not be a problem. We were not in the same ward as anyone else in the complex, which left us kind of isolated socially. The bedrooms are really big, but everything is very old and low quality. I think the price is high for what you get. I rented from summer '07 through winter '08. ...

The entire complex except my building had central air. My apartment had an old, nasty swamp cooler when we moved in. We hastled the landlord about that and a variety of things wrong (missing furniture, holes in the kitchen floor, etc) and had some things fixed eventually, or just covered up. They slammed us on the deposit and saw very little of it back at the end of the year. If you do decide to live here, make sure you are not in the W building (the one by University pkwy). I rented from fall '03 through winter '04. ...

The best social apartment complex I've ever seen. During Spring 2003, at least 1 person got engaged each week--with some weeks up to 5 engagements happening. The people were so fun and friendly. It's very close to BYU and other south-of-campus places. It's a bit pricey, but if you want to have a fun time with a great ward--you'll enjoy the Elms.
