The service here is terrible-unbelievably terrible. And our apartment fell apart around our ears (a lot was messed up when we moved in and a lot quickly went wrong). When we moved in, there were screens missing from windows, a fridge shelf was broken
(held together by the previous renters' tape job), the vent above the stove didn't work, there was base board missing from the bathroom, the internet jack in one room was gone (pulled out of the wall), half of the lights in the house flickered, our heater wouldn't turn on, blinds were missing from the bedroom windows AND our porch was strangely slanted and had weird soft spots. By half way through the year, we had been banned from our own porch (because it was supposedly unstable and dangerous), four of the drawers in our kitchen had fallen apart, the building's laundry card machine was broken (for most of the semester), two of the shelves in our fridge would fall out periodically, our fridge leaked pools of water onto the kitchen floor, and our heater unit was declared unusable. The clincher was that the reason we couldn't use our heater anymore was because it was spewing combustible chemicals into our apartment. Throughout all of this, the service was lousy as hell. Most things took forever to fix (literally weeks or months) and our porch was never fixed. A perfect example of Century apartments' negligent service was that we had to ask them over and over to check out the smell coming out of our vents even though we told them it made us feel sick. Finally, the third person to come up and check out the problem figured out that we weren't crazy and were actually getting sick from our heater. DO NOT live here if you want a decent landlord/maintenance crew or wish to receive basic respect and service from your building management. The price does not make up for the fact that you are treated like shit!
I rented from fall 10 through spring 11.
