The Avalon at Foxhall is, by definition, a college apartment building. The units are lovely -- my roommates and I absolutely adore having a full kitchen, ample closet space, and a washer and dryer in unit! It's also in a fantastic location for AU students who do not have a car. The building is located about 0.3 miles away from American University's main campus, so only a 10 minute walk, and 10-15 minutes away from the nearest grocery store on foot. However, living in the Avalon at Foxhall is expensive. Even splitting a 2 bedroom unit with 3 other people is costly. And, while the extra amenities offered by the building are nice, I personally think that the average college student does not need all of that for a college apartment. There are certainly cheaper places to live in the area that are just as conveniently located! ...

It's somewhat expensive for a college student, but is very close to American University and Giant to go grocery shopping. Definitely better than the Berkshire apartments across the street. I lived there with a few roommates and there is plenty of space. The in unit washer and dryers were also very nice because I could do my laundry at home. Sometimes there would be a maintenance issue, but the staff was pretty responsive to fix it soon. When I lived there, they were also doing construction, so that was a little noisy. Overall, not bad! ...
