Whatever you do, stay away from this rat infested hellhole!
1. I moved into South Port in 2008 and have regretted every second of it. Ever since I moved in, I still don't have a copy of my contract. All they gave me was a generic one page form, but at
the time of leasing they made my wife and I sign a ton of other "addendums", and everytime we have a complaint, they say "it's what you signed on". Can I see what I signed on' No they're archived...
2. The fully enforce their parking rules. Not bad if it's fair but here's two events that have happened when it's a little "too much".
- My son picked me up from the airport a few months ago, brought me home, went upstairs to get the visitor's parking pass, went back down: car' Already towed... TWO MINUTES!! For Pete's sake, at least give people a few minutes chance!
- My car got towed last week, at midnight, Feb 1. Reason' Expired inspection tag. Really guys' Are you waiting for a few minutes to enforce' Shouldn't we at least be warned first' Oh, wait a minute, that was another clause in those mysterious contracts we signed.
3. I wish they were that vigilant in stemming burglary. Here's three cases of burglary that have happened to me alone the last few months (remember all of this in less than a year!):
a. Car broken into. The loss was a GPS, glasses, and CDs. The gain was mud all over the carpet and an empty Cheetos package and crumbs all over the place.
b. Barbque grill stolen from patio
c. This morning, heavy steel contruction welding machines were stolen from my truck. Yes, equipment that we use a bobcat to put in and remove from the pickup truck. Apparently, one of the neighbors saw what happened (thinking that they men were my construction workers, since they were Latino, and wearing contruction clothes). These people got their own pickup truck, backed up, blocked the street, made a lot of noise, cut through metal chain, moved the machines from one truck to the other and drove off! Now the neighborhood is a crime scene. That'll give them good reviews!
4. Last pickle I promise. If you like rats, you'll love living here. I don't, and several of the neighbors complained about it to the management office and they didn't even bother looking at the problem, let alone solve it. Probably it's part of those mystery contracts that we signed, claiming that the community is animal friendly.
To conclude, I would not recommend Southport to my worst enemies. Probably it's the best place to bring the Guatanamo Bay detainees here since people like them deserve it.
