If you like leaks, mold, noise, cockroaches, rats, mice and ants, this is the place for you. While there is heating and air conditioning the walls are so thin and windows must break easily. Heating bill got up to $400 one month and we had the heater set to 68 degrees. We had two broken windows when we moved in and the landlord took 3 months to fix them despite having promised he'd have them fixed before we moved in. There is an intermittent leak from the bathroom ceiling above the toilet that existing from the time of move in and lasted the entire stay (10 months). Landlord doesn't believe there is a leak despite the mold that is clearly visible and the dark water stains on the ceiling. To date, leak is still there. The ceiling consists of a piece of painted plywood with screws holding it up. Other than the visible mold and water damage, there is an awful stench underneath the bathroom and kitchen sinks. When we moved in we were told there were no pets, but the neighbors have two dogs, one loud/yappy and the neighbors on the second floor have a hound dog and they play fetch inside on the old hardwood floors. Walls are thin and you can hear everything (like the neighbors copulating). Oven is broken and one of the electric burners on the stove doesn't work either. Landlord is rude and takes forever before he will inspect a problem. It takes him even longer to follow through with a half-assed fix. Avoid all units at all costs. Cracks in door and no screens means bugs are rampant in the unit. We had several encounters first with mice, then ants, rats and finally cockroaches. Cockroaches and other bugs (spiders, mosquitoes) remained when we left, we paid to remove other bugs/critters. Not expecting to get a dime of our deposit back (a full month's rent). Unit was dirty when we moved in. Not worth the cheap rent and great location. Landlord hasn't had a business license or waiver for the unit since 2005. I rented from fall 10 through summer 11. ...
