I have lived in Pinewood for several years and found it was originally a great choice for KSU nearness without the partying 19 yr olds. However, the nearby Silver Meadows section 8 housing is taking over the entire neighborhood. There are shady characters walking past my window at all hours, noisy cars, and tons of police cars constantly going to SM for DV and drugs. Please read the Record Courier! (The locals call SM Silver Ghettos!) Plus, the next door park is great during the day, but not safe at night. The new manager has lowered the security deposit and therefore allowed a less responsible crowd into this apartment community. We have had neighbors from hell who had to have police called numerous times and the manager did nothing until they stopped paying rent, kept blaring their music at 2am until they lived there for 2 weeks without electric and finally moved out in the middle of the night. Quality! I am not at all happy with the new manager. She breaks the rules herself and cannot keep a maintenence person employed. A simple repair often takes weeks because she does no repairs herself. I have no idea why they are employing her AND another worker instead of one handy manager and then hiring professionals if the job demands. Plus, there is no laundry facility and the overall buildings are falling apart. I would not recommend Pinewood for a single woman at all. Pay the extra money and live closer to campus without the worst neighborhood in all of Kent next door. I rented from spring '04 through winter '08. ...
