I moved into Southwillow apartments last fall. I was told that there were credit and background checks, and that there is a security patrol from 10 PM to 6 AM. I'm 20 years old, female, and this was to be my first apartment alone. The staff were aware of this. What I had been told made me feel safe, so I picked this apartment. Well, 3 weeks later... my boyfriend came over to visit. A few hours later, his car was gone. Stolen. Called the cops, and the car was found down the street and totalled out. So much for security. That's not the only thing. Less than 2 months later, I received a pounding on my door at 3 AM from the local police. RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW, my car had been broken into and my iPod was stolen. The window was shattered, and the patrol had apparently seen it later. Yeah, great. So much for feeling safe, right? THIS ISN'T EVEN THE LAST THING! I had told a friend to move in to the complex as well before, and she did so trusting that this place would be safe for her as well. Her friend came to visit for 20 min at 6 PM and went outside to find that her back window had been smashed in and her purse had been stolen. 6 PM!!! She had seen someone walking behind her as she was going up, got the creeps but didn't think much of it. Not only that, but going in to tell the office I would not be renewing my lease, they admitted that things like that had been happening in the back apartments, and that they think someone might be jumping the fence and doing everything. Yeah. Great. Thanks southwillow. You know what? If I worked at a complex that was having those problems, I would ream the security's ass about it and make sure they were doing their damn jobs. DO NOT move to southwillow if you don't want to replace anything, especially windows, or your car. I rented from fall 10 through summer 11. ...
