WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING...RUN away, don't move in here. You will be SORRY. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE YOU CAN EVER LIVE. It is a horrible place to live, outright nightmare. WARNING! The other reviews that are written here about the staff are true. They are the WORST people who have only one goal in mind, smile at your face when you move in and gain your business, and once your here and sign a lease it's like falling down the rabbit's hole to a big giant nightmare. IT IS NOT SAFE HERE, TWO PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MURDERED HERE, AND NON STOP VIOLENCE AND DRUG TRAFFICKING. RUN AWAY IMMEDIATELY! They raise their rent hundreds of dollars when your lease expires. I am warning you now. It is not a safe area, it is very loud, they don't care who they rent to. This is the horror that happened to me at the hands of Foxpoint In Old Farm. The day I came to sign my lease I was given a walk through paper to go and walk through the unit and mark any damage off that I saw. I was escorted by the head maintenance man Darryl. He was a cocky nightmare. When we went to the unit he told me it wasn't necessary for me to fill out the sheet and that "no one did it" BUT I knew better and wanted to be sure I knew what was wrong so that I was not liable for anything prior to me living there. As I walked around the unit checking things off, Darryl (not sure on the spelling) was annoyed with me for taking his time to fill it out. I was so embarrassed and sorry I was taking his time. He blabbed about how horrible all the renters were, and how horrible the place was, and how horrible people were when they moved out. He went so far into depth about how stupid people were when it came to using a disposal. NIGHTMARE! I felt I had to explain to him OVER AND OVER that my family was not like that but to my horror 18 months later it would be my turn with my head on the chopping block. He was aggressive and abusive and apparently after reading reviews I am not the only one who feels that way. I think he should get fired and they should find someone who isn't jaded to renters, someone who doesn't discriminate due to the wrongs of prior renters. I knew I should have run then, but I needed something soon so I could move my business to Salt Lake and so I moved in anyway. It was totally egregious to Fox Point as a whole and left me with a horrible first impression. When I moved in, the downstairs apartment below me had nonstop techno thumping music playing along with a constant party where I could smell marijuana. They had rented the unit to a TEENAGER and her friend. One night at three am they thought it would be fun to jump off the balcony. I called the office to report it, only to be met with "hey call the police if you have a problem" I was stunned. Completely stunned. It was their responsibility, but they didn't care. Repeat a few nights later, called the police, which is embarrassing and not the kind of experience I want to have or my children to see. The police have to come to your door to talk to you about the problem. So I did as they asked and the police officer told me that Fox Point should pay the police money due to the amount of calls they receive of complaints at Fox Point, RUN! I am telling you. The officer joked about how often they were called to Fox Point that most of the officers stopped responding because โ€œthey had more important things to do.โ€ย So that is another clue that you should NOT MOVE HERE. The officer went down to the door of party house, who at that point finally realized the police were there and we listened as the officer pounded on the door for half an hour screaming through the door that he knew they were there. They stopped the music and disconnected the doorbell trying to pretend that no one was home, but the police had seen the party from the ground and knew they were in there. That happened over and over and over and over until I think I called the police a total of 11 times. This made me feel horrible. I felt like I was bothering them and I felt self-conscious to be calling over and over. The police directed me to Fox Point's management who then directed me to the police. That was so ignorant. And what people don't understand is, that it is incredibly embarrassing and I had to consider calling over and over because it was causing me stress and embarrassment having to say to the police dispatch, โ€œHi it's me again, sorry to bother you BUTโ€ฆ.โ€ย Is it wrong to want peace and quiet? Then one night the teenage girl renter from below came up and began pounding on my door at 3 am looking for shelter because her boyfriend was beating her up. Then a few days later she brought her mother over to confront me about reporting them over and over to the police. All I am trying to do is live my LIFE! That is totally unacceptable. I asked the police to please go to Fox Point management and tell them how bad it was, and they did but they didn't care. It was about selling units and collecting rent and not helping their renters. The 2nd night we were there, when we arrived home, there was some drunk stoned woman standing in our stairwell, she begged us for help saying that her and her husband were walking down 7th and as they went through Foxpoints property her husband went into the bushes to use the bathroom and completely disappeared. Gone! So I offered to call the police and she was scared if I did they would notice she was on drugs, I called them anyway and the police searched and searched the property for hours trying to find him and couldn't. One night as we walked up our stairs we were offered cocaine or โ€œweedโ€ย from some guy who was selling it on the staircase. Horrible. Then some man is murdered right across the street. I called to complain and my calls went unanswered. I finally called the company who owned Fox Point looking for some assistance the lady I spoke to was kind and finally I had some customer service. She called the office and talked to the manager Raquel and after that it settled down a little. Any time I had maintenance problems they would send someone who would barge into my unit scaring the crap out of my kids. I asked them to stop doing it, but they didn't. They pounded on the door, and when you don't answer it is 30 seconds they come right in. I was undressed so many times I can't even count. I was so embarrassed. I called the office and asked for them to give me a call first as I work nights and sometimes I am up for 20 to 30 hours at a time. But nope, no courtesy call. They operated on their time frames and pounded on the door and then let themselves in while I am trying to put on a bathrobe, or when my children were there scaring the crap out of them. My teenage daughter got to the point that when they came over she would hide in her room on her bunk bed. My AC stopped working during the summer. They sent Derrick. He checked a few things and fixed it, a few days later it went out again, and apparently the entire building's AC was not working. They sent an independent air conditioning contractor to fix it. A nice gentleman from the AC Company came into my unit to check and see if it was working. And it was working great. A week later it stopped working again. I called the office and Derrick came over again. He accosted me telling me that it wasn't working because I didn't allow someone to come into my unit to check it when the AC contractor was there. I tried to explain, that someone did come to the unit and he screamed at me, in front of my children that I did not. I tried to explain it may not have been a Foxpoint employee but one of the AC workers, and he screamed at me that I was lying. IN FRONT OF MY KIDS!!!! I replied, โ€œSo you're saying I have been out of AC for a whole week?โ€ย I said that if no one came in to check it when the contractors were there, that would mean in the middle of July I had no AC for a week???? To which he said โ€œyes you must have.โ€ย I tried to explain, but he screamed at me, so I gave up. He then threatened me that he would go and check and see if I was lying because they documented whose unit had been check. I was sitting at home when they did it! He called me a liar. IN FRONT OF MY KIDS! That totally freaked them out. We are non-violent, non-yelling family who believes in kindness so that was totally out there for him to do. They promptly worked on it and another younger maintenance guy came to check and see if it was working a little while later. When I called the office to report the abuse, they said โ€œIt must be a personality conflictโ€ย between me and the Derrick. No personality conflict. Pretty straight forward. I live there, I have expectations, they need to be kind and customer service oriented and I completely understood, but he was having a bad day so I got abused for it. ABUSED. We lived in the 3rd floor unit, we couldn't open our windows because of cigarette smoke, we called and a warning went out, but it resumed a short time later. We could not sit on our balcony patio due to the constant cigarette smoke. Then in the late summer any time we went outside to sit on the patio we would be attacked by yellow jackets. You could not be out there for even a few minutes before they attacked us. My son is allergic to stings and will have anaphylactic shock if is stung. So I called the apartment complex to report it, they said I needed to send an email request to have someone come out. I emailed them like they asked and when they responded, they said an exterminator would not be coming for another 7 days. 7 DAYS!! We couldn't enjoy our patio all of that time. So I patiently waited, the day the exterminator was supposed to come, I waited all day and he didn't show up. NO SHOW after 7 days!!!! I wrote the apartment complex again and they said I would have to wait another 7 days before he would be back. So I had to go to the store and buy yellow jacket traps and had to hang them from the tree in an attempt to get them away from the patio. I spent almost 100 dollars on wasp/hornet spray, an electric zapper, and countless traps I had to empty because they would become full of yellow jackets in only a few days. Eventually Wal-Mart stopped carrying yellow jacket traps, so I had to go to Home Depot to buy the traps. Then I went around the apartment grounds trying to locate the nest. I couldn't figure out where they were coming from. We couldn't go out there at all without being attacked as if the yellow jackets were defending their territory. I again patiently waited another 7 days because I couldn't handle the stress of arguing with Foxpoint apartments staff anymore. And again, waited all day for the exterminator, 2 days now I spend I have spent my entire time sitting, not working, waiting for the guy who no showed a second time. Thank goodness I have that all in writing. Finally I can't take anymore and decide to move regardless of the cost and difficulty. That it would be worth it to go through the move if it meant I could live somewhere normal. It was hilarious because Darrell once again went with me to check off my unit USING THE SHEET HE TOLD ME NOT TO FILL OUT IN THE BEGINNING. I laughed because he was holding it walking around checking stuff off. He was hostile and abusive. I was smart enough to record the entire conversation on my IPhone. He nit-picked the apartment. He had a big giant fit that Comcast had ran cable across the room and that he was going to have to rip it all out. I paid Comcast installation fees so I could have cable in my apartment and I was boggled why he would rip it out. I was thinking โ€œwhat about the person who was moving in after me? They might want cable and internet.โ€ย I had lived there 18 months; I never paid the rent a day late. And he walked around looking for problems. The toilet in the master bath was worn down because of use, and he accused me of replacing it, which made little sense. He then gives me the WALK THROUGH PAPER TO SIGN, THE ONE HE ADVISED ME NOT TO FILL OUT THE FIRST DAY I WAS THERE. I refused to sign it because I had not replaced the toilet seat and was not going to agree to doing it. He then threatened me that if I did not sign it he would make it worse for me. He said if I refused to sign it, he would go around the unit and find other things to charge me for. I replied โ€œDo what you need to do, I am happy to pay for any damages that I actually incurred as it is my responsibility.โ€ย In my family we believe in being honest and accountable for our actions. The apartment is going to have nail holes and wear from 18 months of living there. There was a water stain in the tub that I scrubbed my heart out of and it would not come out because it needed a pumice stone, and had I used one I would have been in trouble for scratching something. So erring on the side of safety worked out just as bad. He freaked out pointing at it and I told him I cleaned it and what did he suggest to which he said โ€œbleachโ€ย so I encouraged him to get some bleach and try to clean it because it would not work. He gave me an ultimatum, saying if I did not sign the form (the one he told me not to fill out in the beginning that was pointless) that he would go around and charge me for more. He threatened to get the manager Raquel to come over and that โ€œshe wouldn't be so generousโ€ย so I said do what you need to do and send me the bill. I received the bill two weeks later; I laughed and laughed as it had a copy of the check off sheet again. It had a woman's handwriting on it now that included other charges than what Darrell said he would charge me for. So I happily went online and sent them their money and was so glad to be rid of them. When asked where I was moving, I informed him and he laughed and made fun of the new place I am living, saying how much better Fox Point was than the new place I was living, and that the new place was laughable and good luck. The new place I am living now is nice, quiet, respectful and NORMAL. With normal folks who work here, with awesome attitudes and an impeccable attention to the needs of their renters. I am in heaven and it is the very best move I ever made. I am warning you, don't be drawn into Fox Point, there is a reason why their deposit is very low. It is a trap, a lure, bait to get you in. You can find better. I was downright verbally abused by the staff, when I moved out, not a single soul was working there that was there originally when I rented the place except for Darrell and Raquel, maybe they are in love, but no one stays employed there because it is a nightmare. Your safety is at risk. If you have children you will have to worry about their welfare. I am in the process of filing a class action lawsuit against them for what they did to me as I will not let it go on for anyone else. If you have lived here and have been treated this way then please leave a message and you will be contacted by an attorney. I was an excellent renter, quiet, paid my rent on time and all I wanted was a home to live in that was safe, clean and safe. But I am warning you. Look somewhere else. They will leave you with the worst taste in your mouth. They made it appear that it was me, only until I moved out did I learn that it was not me and the rest of the world functions in proper ways with customer service and values not tyranny. Good Luck in your search! I rented from fall '09 through spring 11. ...
