The management here is absolutely terrible. There have been so many instances of residents who plan to live here for only one semester being treated so terribly and underhandedly financially 'screwed over'and even lied to. They are untrustworthy, unorganized and not worth the cost they are asking. Maintenance requests are rarely ever fixed, they decide to do a clean check on the first day of final exams. The only saving grace of the apartment is the people and the ward. Parking fills up fast and half of the washers are broken at any given time. I rented from winter 2015 through fall 2016. ...

I would not recommend Miller Apartments to anyone. The fact that you only pay $200 a month is negated by the fact that you have a $35 utilities every month and they don't give you back your security deposit. You can do nothing to lower your utility bill since they average the utilities between everyone in the entire complex. If anything in your apartment is broken or in need of maintenance, the maintenance guy will come, look at it, tell you he'll come back, and then never come back. This is happened 4 times in my apartment. The apartment itself is old, has a large, ugly pantry in the middle of the kitchen that blocks the living room. There are 2 small bathroom for 6 people with bathroom space for only 4 people. In your room, you'll enjoy a small closet with 2 small drawers with a small dresser of 4 drawers that each hold 4 folded shirts each. If you need more space, you are out of luck. There isn't enough room for a single desk in each room, let alone space to put an extra dresser if you need. Did I mention you do not have a food disposal? Or working A/C? Or heater? (All reported to management but ignored.) Parking is terrible. There are, as of now, 3 potholes at each entrance that have caused damage to multiple cars. Parking lines have faded away or there or multiple lines within 3 feet that make it unclear where you are allowed to park, yet you will get a fine/towed if you aren't parked within the right lines. Management has acknowledged these and said that people just need to be more careful driving in the lot. If you have friends over, there are only 3 15-minute parking spots for visitors for the entire complex (about 50 apartments) so they will need to park about 2-3 blocks away in order to find a spot on the street so you don't get a ticket. The cherry on top is that for cleaning checks, they check your apartment only when you are not home so they can charge you for things you've already cleaned. (I was charged $15 because the faucets in the bathtub weren't shined). On the bright side, it is only 3 blocks from the Field House so you can enjoy a brisk walk from your run-down apartment to campus. I rented from fall 10 through winter 11. ...

My husband and I lived in a house managed by Miller Apartments management for a year and a half (the red house in Miller Apartments parking lot). Here is a summary of our experience: The management was amazing! All boots for towing had to be approved by management-if someone is wrongfully booted, the management makes them take the boot off without charge to the person. We had a few high utility bills and told management. They looked into it and made the utility server come out to the property to read the meter or said we did not have to pay it. As far as maintenance, the shortest we waited was a few hours and the longest was a few days. We only put in a hand full of maintenance requests during our time there and the maintenance guys came out and fixed it quickly. They worked at it until they knew it was done right. The amenities are nice. I wish they would have had a pool, but they did have a large common area with nice couches, pool table, foosball table, ping pong table, piano, etc. Outside they have a fire pit with some seating around it. Deb is the manager, and she is great. She truly cares about each resident. She is busy, but she makes time for each person. We have loved getting to know her and are grateful for all that she has done. My husband and I have both lived at different properties, and this one was definitely the best we both lived in. The manager is the most incompetent person I have ever met. There were seven different occasions where she cashed my rent check and credited someone else in the complex that had the same last name as me. Then she would post rent delinquency notices and pay or vacate notices on my door. Every time I would go down and show her the receipt that she gave me for the check (I started handing her the checks in person because of her screwing up the accounts) and she would apologize and say that it wouldn't happen again. I just wonder what was going on with the other person's account. Either the other person was paying, and Debra was just talking two rent checks every month from them, or the other person never paid their rent, and that is why Debra did not notice the problem. We went six weeks with no hot water. The entire ward would fill out maintenance requests, 30-40 every Sunday, and stick them in the box. She did not believe us that the water was cold. It took us getting the off campus housing office to inspect the water and issue a citation for her to call a plumber to fix the problem. The internet connection is garbage. The combined bandwidth for the complex is about 40-50 megabits per second, which is divided over the 100 or so students that live there. So youtube is just about impossible to watch. They charge $15 per person per month for the connection. And it is down at least 10-15 hours a week. If they have 100 tenants, that is $1500 a month on internet, when Comcast charges about $150 a month (after all of the fees, Comcast's sticker price is $50 a month, but you have to rent the router and you have other hidden fees that bring the cost up a bit) for that speed of bandwidth. So Miller is making about $1300 is profit off of the internet connection they promise but do not provide. The sticker price is low, but they invent all kinds of fees for their tenants. The screen door in the bedroom of my apartment was never there, but they charged four of my roommates $25 a piece to replace the screen. The screen was not replaced, but next semester they charged everyone another $25 a piece to replace it again. My advice is to run from Miller and any other apartment owned by Continental Properties. I lived here during the '13-'14 school year and I enjoyed it a lot. Its a great first apartment. The ward is great and the people that live here are friendly. The complex is older, so don't expect new shiny appliances; however if you clean it regularly its acceptable. It's super cheap and is great if you have a tight budget. I love having a gas stove and all the apartments just got new tile flooring in the kitchen, hall, and bathrooms which are so great. Management is fair and responds to texts quickly and will meet with you outside of office hours if you set up an appointment. Cleaning checks are done by RA's. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the JSB, and about 5 minutes to drive to Smith's or the new Walmart.... ...

Awful. I lived in more sanitary place in Brazil. Two times in this past year have I had a shower that I didn't have on all the way hot. That's to say, I've only had two showers where I wasn't uncomfortably cold. Very often it's been downright frigid. The carpet is so old it will stain your feet black. Good location though. Just so you are all aware, this was written for 2013 (and it won't let me change the year below). I have a theory that any positive review of this place is a fake. One of the managers must have posted it, because every single student would agree...this place is awful. Cleaning checks are unfair, maintenance is a joke, and no matter how hard you try to clean this place THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MOLD. There's never hot water, and sometimes there's no heat. Our apartment went without any sort of heat for at least two full weeks in January, and we still got charged full price on our utilities bill. There is one single plus side, and that's the people here. Everyone here is awesome and down to earth, and the bishopric for the ward I was in was AMAZING. So here is my advice to all of you considering the Miller--don't do it. Move into one of the houses near by so you can have the cool people without the building. Living in these apartments has been the worst housing experience of my life. This semester alone (winter 2013) our heat in our apartment has gone out 4 times and our hot water has gone out at least 8 or 9 times (it is actually currently out right now again, that is what reminded me to warn anyone else I could not to live here). So many people emailed BYU housing that they did an "inspection" but Miller had a warning that it was coming so they temporarily fixed the hot water and other problems so they could pass. A week later, it is out again and we're having cold showers for the next few days at least. Another example of the classiness of miller. Our floor in one of our bathrooms is peeling up and black mold is growing up out of it. When we put in a maintenance request they came at the beginning of fall semester and took a look and said they would be putting in new flooring this summer so its not worth fixing right now, we can live with it for a couple semesters. As far as the apartments themselves go, the bedrooms are very small and closet space is pretty limited, but it is doable if you have a clean roommate. No dishwasher or disposal. The gas stove is nice to have. The only real upside to living here is the ward and the people. This is the best singles ward I've ever attended, and the people here are extremely nice and open and down to earth. WORST PLACE EVER!! I would never recommend this place to anyone, ever. The Landlord is the absolute worst. It took forever to get repairs. I had lived in the apartment for 4 months before they finally fixed the hole in our ceiling of the shower that would leak water on you. One day the people above us toilet overflowed and we had their urine and feces running down our shower walls and they made US clean it, no one from management cared. It didn't matter how many times you scrubbed anything in the bathroom it never looked close to clean. I swear the place was infested with mold. I would go home on weekends and feel fine then after one night in those apartments I somehow managed to have a cold, headache, cough all over again. It didn't go away until I moved out. It's an older building, but I never had too much trouble getting the maintenance guy over. As long as I complained and turned in a maintenance sheet. Everything is pretty standard south campus-style, except for the big lounge (which I reserved a couple times) and some apartments have newer stuff. Like some have tile, some have two fridges, and some have nicer couches. You just have to get there ahead and shop around a bit. I also got rent $25 cheaper, because I was in a group and stayed a year. So that was a plus. As for parking, I skipped the pass and just parked south of the Provo Library. I moved in last January, and would love to stay but they are full so I can't. The ward is awesome. I liked management. They are strict, but I thought fair. I admit there was no bending on the late fee I had to pay. Maintenance was a little slow, but now worse than any where else. Over all it has been the best rental experience I have had since coming to BYU. The rooms are small, but the lounge is great. Good stuff first: the parking passes were pretty cheap and I never was unable to find a spot. People are easygoing and social, and the ward is great. My roommates were awesome, and the location is close to campus and 7/11. Bad stuff! The manager always acts as though her hands are tied, and it was very hard for me to actually communicate to the landlords. Cleaning checks are VERY subjective and inconsistent. My roommates and I would clean vigorously for hours, go down the checklist, and make sure everything was perfect. Then the checker would come through, make a few terse comments, and fail us on multiple items. Half of the time the checker didn't even look at or touch the 'failed' object. The carpet cleaning ruse they have going is a joke and a rip-off. I have numerous other examples of dishonesty from management. Basically, they're frustrating to deal with and not very forthcoming. Besides the tiny bedrooms, one of the biggest drawbacks is that some of the apartments were fairly moldy when I was living there. The outer walls on the first level weren't sealed so any water from outside would come through and keep the carpet in my bedroom wet. The price was good because you got what you paid for. The location was great - it was very close to campus and Smith's. The social life was great having so many people in such a close proximity. The landlord, not the manager, tries to fine the tenants for anything possible. Depending on how many tenants have cars, parking can be scarce. it's a great place socially, which helps to make up for the facts that management often does ridiculous things (it's cheap but they will nickel and dime you to death) and the living conditions are pretty sad. I rented from spring '07 through winter '08.

I rented from 05-06 and overpaid $235 for half of a bedroom in a 6-person apartment. The building is well-designed for a good social life (you can always see who's around) and it's a quick 2-block walk to campus (plus an energizing walk up a steep hill to the buildings on campus) but the apartments themselves are small, dark and grungy. They got new couches in Fall of '06, but the bedrooms are pretty much only big enough for two beds and two old and useless desks with a narrow walkway between them to the door. Don't stay here if you like to cook a lot either, the kitchen is ridiculously small. Good if all you care about is cheap rent and a healthy social life. I rented from fall '05 through winter '06. ...
