I rented from this complex because it seemed ok on first presentation and they let me have 2 cats and 1 dog (for extra rent of course). They also said that it was being remodeled and the kitchen would be all new. Well, a dryer from 1970 with the stove and refrigerator to match are not considered "new" to me. The dryer took 2 hours for 4 towels to dry. The first summer landscaping was ok. However, the grass died midsummer and they never replaced it. The previously grass covered areas became dunes of dirt and when it did occasionally rain, mud. They also LOVE to blow debris onto your porch. There's nothing like the sound of leaf blowers for 2 hours at 7 am on a Tuesday morning. The police visited the complex at least once a week. I'm not sure why. They usually were looking into apartments with full gear (guns and flack jacket). There was often kids doing drugs behind the dumpster. The kids in the neighborhood were constantly tagging the apartments and surrounding area. Oh, and they told me it was a great place to live because the park is 1/2 block away. They forgot to mention that the park is where the homeless congregate for 6 months out of the year. Be prepared to step over empty 40s and the occasional sleeping vagrant. The staff was generally friendly when they were present. The hours on the door mean nothing. I had to quit having UPS deliver to the office because they were never open when I could get my package. It was more convenient for me to drive 20 miles into Chandler to pick up my packages from UPS directly. During my stay at Monterey Point my a/c broke 3 times in the first month and flooded my hallway. It was 110 degrees outside and it took them 18 hours to respond to the maintenance call. I had a 15 year old poodle who was heat sensitive. Also, they would come in and dink around with the a/c, say they fixed it, and leave. Within 1-2 days it was not working and they would come again (after another 18-24 hours, of course). Same thing happened with the toilet. It was constantly running. They came, fixed the cheapest part--I informed them that all the guts needed to be replaced--they refused and it continued to run. I called again, they replaced some of the toilet guts and said it was fixed. Well, it intermittently flushed itself. I didn't call again because I knew they wouldn't fix it. Also, there was a leak in the wall of the apartment which flooded half my living room, kitchen, and half my bedroom. I understand these things happen and they did fix it (at 2 am when I have to leave for work at 6 am). There was no apology for all the inconvenience, no offer to give me any type of rent credit for flooding my apartment, no sense that take any pride in their complex. My biggest complaint was the cost of renting. I don't mind living in the ghetto when rent is $600 or less. However, for $1100 a month I found out I could have been living in much nicer complexes. I could have felt safe, had working appliances, and in general had less stress. I rented from summer '09 through summer 10. ...
