The apartment we have is technically a 2 bedroom, however, the living room had a door so we made it a 3 bedroom to make it cheaper, but we have no living space now. This is the only reason the rent is cheap for us. Otherwise we would be paying close to $1600 a person for honestly a pretty poor apartment. To start: Everything is coated in white lead paint - some of the kitchen drawers were even painted shut. The kitchen floor is cracked and stained and needs to be replaced, however, the stove and fridge were newer appliances so that was nice. The kitchens in all of the units are pretty small with virtually no counter space though. The rest of the rooms are just white with hardwood floors so they were easy to decorate. Aside from that, the entire apartment is extremely outdated - the carpets are gross in the halls and the doors are so thin and broken down you can hear your neighbors - on that subject - the other tenants in the building are incredibly noisy playing music into the hours of 3am every night - it is an absolute nightmare. There are also homeless people who come to the front door of the building and scream and slam on the door in the middle of the nights - there have been some instances of them getting into the building and doing drugs in the hall. (I feel very unsafe here as a woman). The building is also next to a parking lot that is so loud and disruptive. It would be nice if the landlord made some updates to the units and halls and added more security and safety features around the property. (He should definitely consider building/adding a gate in front of the front door so people who are not tenants cant get to the front door and to make package and mail deliveries easier) But its cheap and CA is expensive so this is what we get. ...

Cons: Attached to a very busy parking lot downtown Berkeley. Walls and windows are thin, doesn't block out enough noise. Noisey neighbors too. Pros: Spacious apartments, chill but responsive property manager, VERY close to campus and inexpensive rent and utilities. ...
