BEWARE Resident for 1 year in 2022-23 IF I COULD GIVE -5 STARS I WOULD First things first- it’s fine while you’re living there sure but it’s the after that is slimy and disgusting about them When I moved out I had in fact singed a lease for an additional year and needed to find a replacement I locked my door when I moved out and turned in the keys at the end of my original lease term While trying to find a new tenant (I was remotely doing this bc I had moved out) they caused me to lose 2 potential tenants due to the fact at some point they left my room unlocked and it was more dirty than the condition I left it in. One girl said “it looks like throw up is in the tub”. They tried to charge my security deposit for carpet STAINS that were there before I moved in and repeatedly documented with my move in inspection, calls w the office, and sending out carpet cleaners at the beginning of my lease. Nevermind the fact that I ended up spending my own money to get the smell out due to the prev tenant having animals that left it smelling awful. While living there we were repeatedly ignored despite voicing our concerns about a roommates window not being properly installed causing constant high utility overages (you could 100% feel the air/breeze from outside straight through the edges of the windows). Maintenance did come out once to look at said window and they said “it looks like it just doesn’t fit” - basically you’re sol. After many arguments with them over more issues than just these, and feeling like the completely tried taking advantage of me (even tho I didn’t let them cause I’m literally a property manager too I’m not a stupid college kid), they finally seemed to accept some of the issues and let the whole mess come to an end. SIKE it’s been about 1.5 years since I have lived there and they sent me to collections WITHOUT contacting me OR my guarantor AND WITHOUT verifying I even owed the amount in the first place!!! I had been sent TWO $0 balance move out documents. The amount wasn’t even mine because someone from Husk said that it was a glitch in their system. OKAY SO WHY HAVENT YOU RESCINDED IT YET??? I know there’s documents you can fill out to do so. Disgusting Company is out to take advantage Don’t get me wrong the fellow college students who work in the office are not this issue! They’re great people. It’s the company/management. They’re a company based in Texas FYI they DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. Slumlords trying to make money!! Again I work in property management myself so I completely understand when there are workers under the whim of people above them. BEWARE ...

I have visited the husk and the helm many times. I am proudly to say that they keep the area clean and very safe as well through these tough times. I am very excited to move into my forever home with the husk and the helm.

I just moved into The Husk and The Helm this fall semester and I love it! The apartments are so new and spacious. The balcony views at the Helm are spectacular. I could not imagine living anywhere else!

The Husk and Helm is a nice place to live. I live at the Husk. I haven’t had any problems since I’ve lived here other than minor maintenance issues. The 24/7 access to the amenities is great, especially during finals week. I recommend that you live with people that you already know since it’s an apartment and you share a space off campus. One thing I wish I would’ve known is that it is still part of WCU’s campus. ...

They were not prepared when building these during 2020. People have had numerous issues, including my friend that found mold. I have broken water pipes, and you can tell this place was rushed when being built. I enjoy that my apartment is across the street from campus. ...
