After apartment searching online for months and a trip to Atlanta to pick an apartment I settled on Clairmont Reserve due to it's proximity to Emory. The model I was shown was beautiful with lots of space for a great price. The leasing staff seemed nice and knowledgeable about the area. After much debate I applied and got a move-in date. Then we got to the actual apartment. It had the same layout as the model, but the similarity stopped there. The ceilings were stained and damaged. Many of the vinyl kitchen cabinets were peeling making the drawers difficulty to open/close. The carpet was extremely dirty, covered is dust and hair. We bought a vacuum and had to empty it twice in the first day from all the dust and hair. Then came the worst part of all. When the sun went down the bugs came out! Roaches everywhere. They were coming out of the walls, all over the kitchen and bathroom, in the base boards and closets. We easily killed 30 in the first night. We bought traps and Raid, it got a little better, until the sun went down again. When we talked to the office they claimed the unit had pest control the day before we got there, but they would have them come back. When the guys came the next day he barely sprayed. Claiming it would get worse before it got better! We killed 20 more after he came. When we went to the office to break the lease because the apt was clearly unlivable they did offer to move me to a different unit, but it was too late. I didn't want to be anywhere in that place. The leasing manager literally said to me, "we did not guarantee there wouldn't be bugs in the unit". Really!? I think when you say the unit will be clean that means it will be bug free. I would not recommend anyone live here! Consider an apartment built in this century! As a side note, the outdoor hallways were dirty and in need of updating. The stairs were breaking and with nails sticking out everywhere. The maintenance staff was extremely nice and helpful. Coming to fix some of the smaller problems quickly and were very friendly. The leasing agent who helped us was also very nice and helpful. However, this could not make up for the downfall of the apartment. I rented from fall 11 through fall 11. ...
