DO NOT LIVE HERE! I lived in several apartments around Atlanta and Berkley Heights was by far the worst experience I had. My apartment was filthy when I moved in, the grout was black, the stove was covered in scum. I had to bleach everything just so it felt clean to me. When I took up the issue with the office staff they sent up their "cleaning crew" which consisted of a mexican woman with a bottle of windex. The apartment really needed professional grout cleaning. That's not the least of it. ROACHES. I'm a clean person, but clearly the people living around me were not because I had to kill roaches in my apartment on a frequent basis. They don't inform you when packages arrive, like every other apartment, but then send out emails complaining that the mail room is full and all tenants needs to pick up their packages. Noise was another big issue. The walls are like paper. Especially the ceilings. And I realize it's an apartment and there's naturally going to be some noise, but the tenant above me blasted music so loudly that my walls actually shook. Calling the courtesy officers did nothing because all we did was play phone tag, because you can only leave them a message and wait for them to call you back. There's no way to immediately and directly speak to them. And when you do get to speak to them, they're usually too busy to take care of any problems, like noise complaints, because they're also APD officers. And the pool area during the summer is always extremely loud. There is hardly enough gated parking, there were many nights when I came home after 7:30p due to various meetings and obligations and had nowhere to park in the gated residential area. Lastly, trying to get my security deposit back was the most ridiculous thing ever. I had to call them 16 times and email them twice. Trying to speak to the property manager was near impossible because she was always "in a conference call" and "will call you back". Of course she just blew off calling me back. It took them over 3 months from the day I moved out to actually get my deposit check back. And keep your paperwork that they give you detailing your last month's rent if it's prorated, or they will try to refund less than what they actually owe you. All in all, a terrible experience. Anyone who says otherwise either a) has poor standards for apartments or b) is part of the office staff. I rented from fall 10 through spring 11. ...
