Hyde Park has different buildings owned by different people so contact information and rent will vary. Rent is generally $700-800, which is a pretty good deal. Our landlady owns some of the southeast buildings and she is wonderful! We found our
apartment through the online student bulletin board, but we also saw openings posted on Zillow, Apartments.com, Facebook, etc..
The distance between here and the middle of campus is about a 20-30 minute walk. If you donβt have a car and you need to get to the store there is a Walmart bus stop nearby at the Gates apartments. All of the apartments are about 750-800 sq. feet and have 2 beds 1 bath. Itβs a bit of an older complex so there is some wear and tear depending on where you live, but itβs really good for the price. There are wheelchair accessible units throughout the complex and some apartment owners allow pets.
Most, if not all, have a washer, dryer, microwave, and dishwasher in addition to the typical appliances. Some of the apartments on the north side have air conditioning built in, but the rest do not. If you want to stay cool in the summer you may need to purchase an air conditioning unit. You will need to shovel your own snow in the winter, but the grounds are maintained throughout the remainder of the year. Internet will vary as well, some people have internet included, but some of us donβt and have had to find an internet provider. The neighborhood is usually quiet since Hyde Park is on the outskirts of town and the majority of the residents are student families. Everyone that weβve met have been kind and friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend living here.
