CLK Evanston is sly in getting more money from new renters--we were charged $300 extra for our application since my roommate was an international student, and there was no reason given as to why the $300 was added nor was it stated anywhere on the lease or the website. Furthermore, the entire area is never cleaned and has been this way since decades ago since CLK was built, meaning that the maintenance is also very poor. Every week, during the mornings and afternoons on weekdays when I am taking class, they decide to blow leaves or cut grass, and since all the rooms face the direction of the noise, my Zoom classes can pick up on the noise outside, making it impossible for me to contribute to discussions and classes. When we first moved in, we were told that the apartment unit was painted and cleaned and were charged extra because of it, but it was in fact that the unit had not been touched since the last tenant, and was dirty (the sinks and bath were clogged, and there were many bugs) as well as not re-painted. The kitchen sink would spill water through the bottom pipe into the cabinet that held our plastic bags and other items. Furthermore, during the fall and spring time, wasps would enter the apartment through cracks in the window panes (we had all our windows closed) and my roommate and I both were stung by the wasps in our attempts to capture and let them go. The wasps would slowly die in our apartment and we would need to clean up afterwards. ...
