[HEATING] All the building share 1 furnace, if you look closely you will see the white piping between buildings. This means when the heat fails in the middle of winter for days all the buildings are without heat and hot water for 1-3 days. This happeneds about twice a year. [THE MEMO] The senior stinky [AMY] writes these memos almost every week. They are often very rude, probably because neither stinky went to college. If you liked your RA in college, you will love this place. [Dog Do] I understand that there are little place that accept animals in Boston. But, if you do not have one. Do not move here. They have a public dog area in back of the odd numbered buildings. Not sure if it is public, but every uses it. No one cleans up after than animals. There is Dog Do everywhere. which attract flies. This just happened to be a few feet from all the apartments kitchen windows. A such a lovely smell in the summer on a steamy day. [Trash] The residents are mostly college kids. Loud, dirty, trashy. Most of the resident put their garbage on the back deck or outside their door. So Flies Flies and more flies. Most of the time you have to step around others garbage to get down the back stairs. [Parking] Okay they have parking, but it is 150-200 a month for a spot and vehicles often get scratched from shopping pushed by the old Chinese ladies that work at Urban renewals looking for clothes and cans in the dumpsters. [Safety] Leaving in Allston on the 1st floor is a break-in waiting to happen. Also this area has a huge RAT problem. The Mexican neighbor shoot the rats with pellet guns, often missing and hitting the building. One of the most disgusting things I have ever seen is they cook the rats and eat them. This smell is never forgettable. [Noise] Barrows leads to a school. So forget about trying to get out before and after school. The buses completely block Barrows and both streets along the sides for hours at theses times. Not to mention school kids hang out on the steps and smoke and leave their trash everywhere. [Maintenance] Zero, not only will they never replace a light bulb, you will be charge $50 for each one that burned out. Have bathrooms with 16 bulbs in each is a huge electric bill and not very green. [Staff] The staff smell, probably mostly because one has a pet rat, that she brings to work on Fridays and the other one is just fat and smelly. Also they lye to you and tell you things got fix. E.G. the roof leaks and will destroy your property, They will then just lye and tell you it was repaired. [Overall] A D- or 1 star, they do knock before they enter. They try and raise the rent every year and will replace anything broken with used appliance often dirty requiring you to clean them. Then when you leave, if you do not clean them, they will charge you and lye about everything and will keep your deposit. Thank god Boston favors the tenate in cases like this and if you bring them to small claims you will definitely get your money back. [Final words] Run from the stinkies, Run Run Run I rented from winter '09 through fall 10. ...
