At first, The Pines was a mediocre place to live. It was quiet and old, but most importantly it was cheap. My contract was about $2000 for two semesters, about six months. The back patio was made of a weird material, and water was puddled there almost every day. The washing machines were hit or miss. I was fine with the apartment until COVID hit. Management required us to pay 60% of our contract to cancel it when other apartments had a much lower cancellation fee. Due to that, I won't be staying there again despite all of the pros. There's always a possibility that the school could close down again, and I don't want to be stuck paying another $600 to cancel my contract. ...

My apartment is right next to the parking lot so I see a lot of headlights through my window at night which is bothersome. But they have nice, cozy living spaces in both women's and men's buildings with laundry that you pay for using your phone. Also, the buildings are tucked behind the newly built Hemming Village which is home to many modern stores and eateries. It's very pretty and calming to walk through. And there is a park next to Hemming Village that is a less than 5 minute walk from the Pines. It is also a good walking distance from the school, about 15 minutes depending on what class you are going to. The apartment it self can be a little small but that's what makes college life, college life. My roommates are somewhat messy but that just depends on your personal roommates. Overall, it's a nice place to be even though it's not as modern as some of the surrounding complexes. ...

The only thing really wrong with the Pines is the fact that the management is horrible to work with. They take forever to communicate, and they do not track communication and will claim a conversation never happened (be sure all communication happens through email so you have proof!) But it is a company that manages several apartments (I don't remember what they are called), so if they change management then that problem could be solved. Other that that, it's just kind of a plain complex with a small parking garage. My roommate and I had to switch parking spots because her SUV wouldn't fit inside her spot. There are no facilities, no open areas, no nothing. Just stairs and apartments. But the apartments are clean and nice, and the building is maintained to an acceptable standard. ...

The Pines is a nice place to live. It is close to campus, which is good if you do not have a car. It is very reasonably priced. Maintenance was fast. A good perk of living there is that it is a part of the Hemming Village, so residents get discounts at a lot of the shops nearby. ...
