The apartments themselves are fine enough, but the incompetence of the management/office staff has left me wishing I had not chosen to live here. In just the first week:
1. I had a scheduled move-in date, but the apartment was not ready until a week
later. This would not have been too big of a problem had the office simply communicated with me. Instead, the office neglected to notify me until the DAY BEFORE my move-in date. Since I was coming from another state, I had already packed, rented, and reserved everything needed for a cross-country move, and subsequently incurred additional expenses for cancellations, extensions, etc. It was a frustrating week, to say the least. The office provided little compensation, and only after my insistence.
2. When they did allow me to move in, I found that my apartment lacked the promised washer, dryer, and dishwasher. Apparently the person I originally spoke with was either ignorant about their absence or intentionally lied to me. Neither is acceptable and I am now stuck in a year-long lease without the appliances that drew me to this complex to begin with.
3. After moving in, I upgraded my internet package (handled through the apartment office for students). Instead of substituting the new monthly charge in place of the old, however, they tried to add the new rate to the existing monthly cost. They only relented after several phone calls to the internet provider, who took up the task of explaining and re-explaining why I did not owe them so much money.
Again, these are examples from only my first week of living at Kingswood. If you're thinking about moving in here, please be sure to get EVERYTHING in writing and double check all charges. After you do move in, avoid dealing with the management/office staff as much as possible.
