I had a horrible experience at 5800. The foundation of the building is weak and the walls are thin. You can hear everything and especially people walking which isn’t anyone’s fault it’s no infrastructure. The building is beautiful tho and the convince time NYC amazing!!! My greatest is issue was my downstairs neighbor that man was far too comfortable with coming to my door in the middle of the pandemic, no matter the time of day without a mask. From what I was told the previous tenant also moved due to his harassment- it became too much! I moved in at the end of May 2021 and he was at my door in June, he was very accusatory and claim “I am trying to be understanding that you have kids” Yet he was at my door once month, the one or two days I was home. His wife slammed her door in my face after he came to my door for the FINAL time, I had enough of the harassment in March 2022 and that was it I knew it was time to move. As a commuter tenant, I was out of my home from 5:45 AM to 7 PM daily. It was to the point, one day I arrived at 7:40 pm and he was at my door at 7: 50 pm, and management had the cameras because WTF 10 mins… He told me & my children and I had been making noise all day, really being home for 10 mins? He came up holidays, 8 AM and 8 PM- whenever he felt like it. The biggest lie told and I snapped - “was my two children who are not a combined 100 lb could have caused the ceiling to injury him and his pregnant wife. I have been patient with you and your children” I had been accused of stealing by another neighbor 2 doors down (who realized it was not me and attempted to mend, but how can you be so bold to accuse someone of stealing to their face and say “that strange things were here until you moved here”) and doing drugs by the neighbors across the hall(who smoked weed daily- it was truly damaging to everyone’s health on our floor). Management ( the previous one) was fully aware of all of this. This was the most horrific experience of my life, I am so happy when my lease ends. The building is currently under new management, so I hope it is better for future tenants. It is a lovely building, extremely convenient for NYC commuters, but the people in that building who have been there as my neighbor told me “for years” feel entitled and make those who new rent experience uncomfortable. It is not everyone, I had the nicest neighbors next door to me. It was by far the longest and most miserable year of my life. ...
