I am very satisfied with living at the Townhouses of Amherst. I currently live in a three bedroom unit with three roommates, and you receive a lot of space for a really decent rent price. Most utilities are not included, but have been reasonable. Right
outside of my door is the bus stop that will take me to campus or downtown Amherst, within easy reach of classes and errands. If you don't want to use the bus and you have a car; the units usually offer two complementary parking passes and offer two extra to purchase. There is also visitor parking. Most of the residents here are other students of the 5 Colleges, this is very noticeable on the weekends when people are out in the yards and get a bit louder on Friday and Saturday night. During the day, however, it's extremely quiet. Within the same house, the rooms are very nicely sound-proofed (a roommate can have guests in another room and you can easily still be studying). The administrative staff is not always the friendliest, but generally can get you what you need. The maintenance crew is friendly and responds extremely quickly to my concerns and those of my housemates (usually within 24 hours for non-emergency concerns). Some of the units even have in-unit laundry services, and if not, there's a laundry unit in the complex.
