My husband and I lived there for 3 years. For two years we had no problem whatsoever.
Then...we came back from a trip and our apartment was broken into. Seriously, those doors are not secure at all. Maintenance took forever to come fix our door and
when they did, it still wasn't the same. I mean, it's basically a closet door with a deadbolt! When I talked to the manager, she offered NOTHING, not even condolence--she's a super -----, by the way. The management never notified the complex of our robbery, like they do all the others, which totally pissed us off.
A month after our break in, there was a fire IN THE BUILDING NEXT DOOR! Do you think anyone came by--we were asleep! Do you think anyone ever told us the cause of the fire' Of course not, because that would be being a good person, a good manager.
After the fire, the complex was notified about a break in where the occupants were TIED UP! SERIOUSLY!
We gave our two months notice in May only to find out today (it's October!) for the first time that we broke the lease. We moved in July--they had two months to contact us! We're students--we can't afford this. We would have just stayed the extra month. They never attempted to contact us, and sent it straight to collections, which I'm pretty sure is illegal--I'm looking into it. They also conveniently lost our notice letter, which of course I don't have a copy of now, because it's 4 months later! They also charged us some bogus extra $65 for cleaning on top of our $250 security deposit, which only $100 was refundable.
Bottom line, keep looking. We thought we were moving into a nice, quiet, and safe area, so we were willing to pay the high rent. What a load of horse crap! It's not that nice and the walls are paper thin! We paid $569 for what was basically a glorified studio. We now live in a nice townhouse in a nice area that is at least 3 times the size and are paying $729 a month!
Avoid Kirby Station like the plague!
I rented from summer '04 through summer '07.
