I live in Providence Mockkingbird, which is owned by Providence Apartments...we moved into these apartments a few months ago, and havent really been happy since. they are decent looking from the outside, and i will admit, they look very nice on the inside. but it is not worth all the drama of living here. we can hear our neighbors getting in loud fights (it sounds like they are beating each other up) at least a few nights a week. there is always trash all around they stairs because noone has any respect for thier neighbors. i have seen a few roaches, but not too many. these are supposedly "income assisted" apartments, but you'd never guess it from the rent!! however, you WOULD guess it from looking around at the people who live here...parking isnt too bad, but if you do have to park late at night, sometimes you have to walk pretty far and its not always well lit. once the exterior lights went out on our entire building and werent fixed for like 3 days. try climbing up to the third floor in the pitch black with a baby, expecting to get jumped every step of the way. when we first moved in, we thought our air conditioner was broken..turns out it was just frozen up and needed to be turned off and back on, but we didnt know this. so we had to live in this apartment for almost 3 days with no air in july, because even though i called and talked to the office workers or left messages every couple hours all day, noone from thier supposed "24 hr emergency maintenance" ever showed up. when your applying, they tell you that they have courtesy patrol security officers who walk the property. ive never seen one. it seems like they have new people working in the office everyday...and none of them know what they're doing. espesially kandra...thats right im talking to you, KANDRA...she never seems to know whats going on, NEVER returns a message, and is rude...however, as bad as all of this is, the worst is yet to come...a couple of months ago we paid our rent on the 2nd. they didnt deposit our check until the 15th. by this time, other transactions had gone through our account, and unfortunately the check was declined. ok, thats our fault. so they charged us 200 dollars worth of late fees...(2 weeks, since THEY decided not to deposit our check for 2 weeks), which we paid...i dropped off a ckeck in thier office...then they called me to say they couldnt accept a check, it had to be a money order, and they would return my check when i dropped off the money order. SO i got they money order and dropped it off, at which time the girl in the office told me that they didnt have my check anymore and she would have kandra call me (of course she never did) next thing i knew, my bank account was overdrawn by 600 dollars because they had deposited my check instead of giving it back to me! so i had paid the rent twice in the same month...then they refused to refund my money...they said all they could do was give me back my 800 dollar money order (even though they owed me 1000) and put a credit to my account for the rest...well, to make a long story short, this situation was resolved, but ONLY because i have a wonderful bank who stepped in and took care of it...i dont know what would have happened if it had been left up to the incompetent staff here...ANYWAY i know this has been a long review, but i just want to warn everyone against moving here...they are nice looking apartments but they ARE NOT WORTH IT!!! please save yourself the stress and live somewhere else...i wish someone would have warned me... I rented from summer '07 through summer '08. ...
