Overall, not a bad place to live. It's the first stop on the bus route (and always a seat) and the apartments aren't very old, so they are still nice. But there are several not as important annoyances about this place: the apartment has a never-ending
sugar ant problem (even for really clean apts, like ours), it is right next to the train tracks (trains come all the time in SM), the leasing staff is never prompt/and often forget about package notices, there is JUST enough parking for the residents plus a few guests (so you have to park far away if you get home past like 8 p.m.), and recently the apartment-wide fire alarm has been malfunctioning and going off very often, requiring the fire department to come out and turn it off (and they have not done anything about it). Overall, I would describe it as a nice place to live with a few too many petty annoyances.
I rented from fall '08 through summer '09.

The only reason I'm leaving is because the price is going up. It's the best place when it comes to the shuttle bus (first stop, not many stops, always a seat), and it's nice because each bedroom has its own bathroom. Very spacious, but of course there
are lots of parties around and it gets loud but that's san marcos for ya.
