DO NOT LIVE HERE
I would not recommend living at The Bloc due to numerous and persistent issues:
Sewage Issues: Our roommateโs bathroom was flooded with sewage from November 2023 until we moved out in July 2024. The problem was only addressed after it
affected the leasing office on the first floor. Maintenance cut multiple holes in the walls to fix the issue, which took months. When they finally repaired the holes, dust from the sanding made it difficult to breathe. Despite this, we were still charged for our roommateโs room, which had been vacant for nine months, and for damages caused by the sewage.
Heating Problems: Another roommate was without heat for two months during winter. When the issue was fixed, a vendor cut holes in the ceiling, and she was charged for repairing the damage.
High Utility Costs: Utility bills were excessively high. Despite an allowance for utilities, my single bedroom cost $240, and overall utility charges for a 1,000 sq. ft. apartment amounted to $840. Management and billing departments did not address these concerns.
Numerous Wi-Fi Issues: Wi-Fi outages were frequent and lasted weeks at a time. The front desk was unhelpful, repeatedly citing a โcut fiberโ and โwaiting for a vendor.โ
Unhelpful Front Desk Staff: The front desk staff, especially one particularly rude sassy man, were unhelpful. For example, he refused to assist with a package delivery issue and hung up on my father regarding a broken elevator.
Rooftop and Parking Garage Issues: The rooftop was frequently littered with beer cans, and the parking garage was dirty and smelled like garbage. The trash compactor was often full, and reserved parking spots were frequently occupied by others.
Elevator Malfunctions: The elevator was often broken. Despite repairs, it frequently malfunctioned, leaving it out of service for extended periods.
Lobby Conditions: The lobby smelled of rotten fish or dog feces, and buckets were placed in the lobby during rain due to leaks.
Power Outages: Power outages occurred frequently, making it impossible to enter or exit through key card locks, leaving residents locked out at night with no response from management.
Dog Run Conditions: The dog run was small, never cleaned, and had a large hole in the gate that allowed smaller dogs to escape.
Mold Problems: There was significant mold in the apartment, including in the AC closet, which was locked to prevent further inspection. This led to health issues for me, as I am allergic to mold.
Move-Out Charges: After moving out, dealing with additional charges was frustrating and took weeks of back-and-forth emails. Thankfully, Marissa helped dispute these charges after a couple months.
Management Changes: The situation worsened after Melody, the previous manager, left. The new front staff were particularly rude.
Condition of Units: I lived in both a 3-bedroom flat and a 4-bedroom townhouse in this complex due to issues with roommates. In both cases, the units were not in good condition upon move-in. I ended up fixing many of the issues myself because there are only three maintenance workers serving both Park East and The Bloc.
Management Across Properties: Park East and The Bloc are managed by the same people, so if you live at either property, you will encounter the same issues and management practices.
Additional Note: My roommates and I have been so upset by this awful place that we, along with our parents, will be writing negative reviews and posting on other websites. We strongly believe this place should never be inhabited by anyone who cares about their childrenโs or their own mental well-being.
Overall, my experience at The Bloc was highly disappointing, and I would strongly advise against living here

This is worst place to be. The management is really bad. They will make lot of promises during the toor but they don't deliver or change their tone when you move in. Their roommate matching service is also horrible and management doesn't care
