was excited to move from Chicago to Houston and this move to The Standard has turned into a nightmare. 8-23 move in date. -No AC (first week) -Roaches -Mold -Water inside of my fans in the bathroom -Oven does not stay on longer then 1 minute -Shoe boxes destroyed due to the moisture/mold My first day in my apartment I had a huge mold spot in my closet on the ceiling (I have the picture). Also on the first day the AC was not working and the maintenance man was at my apartment for the first 4 days trying to fix it. After he finally fixed my AC, I started to grow mold in both of my closets and on my clothes. I then started to have 2-3 roaches (I have pics) a day in my apartment that I was killing either on my floor or in my cabinets. The mold continued to get worst and then I started to have water inside of my bathroom fan. Maintenance was called numerous time and his response concerning the water in my fan not once but twice was "This is not a maintenance issue this is a building issue, we have to get the builders over here to see why you are getting water in your fans, I have never seen this before". He had to come to my apartment multiple times to take water out of my fan that is in the bathroom. The mold spot was painted over (mold spot was witnessed by George) and 2 weeks later there was another mold spot in the other bedroom(that was witnessed by George). After so many issues that are documented I asked to be moved to another apartment due to my health and all of the issues that I am having at my apartment. George took me to the apartment next door to myself and my words to George were "this is so close to my apartment it probably has water or mold issues as well". Upon walking into the apartment George says, and I quote "it smells just like the rain forest in here". As soon as we walk into the bathroom there was a huge mold spot on ceiling in the bathroom the size of maybe 3-4 basketballs, to where the paint was hanging off. And this was witnessed by George as well. I declined to move in that apartment. Time went by with no response, so I asked for a meeting with George and Joel who is the Property Manager. On 9-24-2024, I had a meeting scheduled to meet concerning my transfer to another unit. In the beginning of the meeting I stated that I love living here and I do not want to leave, but I want to be accommodated due to all of the issues that I am having. I handed over my doctors visit where they prescribed me 5 medications as well as being injected with medicine to help me breath, and Joel response was "If you are looking for empathy I'm not the guy George would be the person for that". As a tenant I felt totally disrespected and thought that was completely rude...but it get's worst. We then started to discuss all of the issues and what the expectations were concerning my move, these are the things that Joel told me.. *the mold is caused by YOU because you have your window open and AC on *We will NOT accommodate your move we will just wave your transfer fee but all fees you are responsible for including who moves your furniture and who de-mounts and mounts your televisions. You are also responsible for any higher rent prices if the unit is higher priced. During this meeting Joel was the most unprofessional person I have ever met. He snickered as I was talking and smiled and laughed as if my health was a joke to him. He was very rude and obnoxious to say the least. It was to the point that George had looked shocked at his comments. After about 5 minutes into our conversation with him sitting next to me and George across from me behind a desk he then stopped me and said "this meeting is going to end if you do not stop using your hands while you are talking to George". I had not raised my voice and did not use any profanity. I looked at George and asked if he had felt disrespected and he said NO. Joel begins to say well it's disrespectful and I will end this meeting if you do not stop. I then told Joel maybe there is a huge cultural disconnect due to me being African American and this is how we communicate. I explained to Joel that it would be different if I was using profanity and reaching towards you (in which I turned his way and put my hand out) and he decided to slide his body over and say that he was scared while he CLEARLY sees me giving him an example. It was just so many antics and feeling of he feels that people are beneath him. HE HAS TO BE THE WORST PROPERTY MANAGER IVE ENCOUNTERED IN MY 42 YEARS OF LIVING. After 5 minutes into the 45 minute meeting he stops it and says "I think you should find somewhere else to live". Now my 100k SUV was stolen on 11-2 in a gated community in which the gates do not close. I go to office today to discuss it and JOEL tells his worker to tell me I need an appointment. In which I have never scheduled an app. Typical Joel on his high horse making it personal and my SUV stolen with no help. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! ...

My vehicle was burglarized in the parking lot. Property refuses to make apartment safer. Will not close gates. Allows huge parties that exposes the community. Many issues with electrical. Mailroom never works. No bayou access. Lots of false promises. Neighbors car window shot through in the parking lot. Homeless sleep in vacant yards. Trash is always overflowing outside. ...
