Lanai gets a ton of hype. It's is hard to get a contract here and super easy to get rid of one. It is super close to campus and it is nice to have a private room set up, and a washer and dryer in the apt. The bishopric for this ward are outstanding. Parking is no longer free. They charge $60 for the school year and you have to go to the management office and pay it in cash. People report having their cars broke into and vandalized often so the garage seems to have some security issues. The stereotypes are spot on. Everyone here is a trust-fund baby and most are from California or the DC area. A big group of them have been here for a long time (one of our roommates has been here for seven years) and the rest are legacy lanai residents (their older siblings were here for years). So the problem with that is that they all already know each other and although they are nice people, they don't really care to get to know you. Prepare to introduce yourself over and over to the same people every week. There are twice as many guys as girls so you won't be dating anyone here because there are likely 4 other guys sitting next to you who are much better options because they drive BMWs and vacation at Lake Winnepesake with Mitt Romney. It really is cliquey here. Management is not to big of a hassle seeing as they only check your apartment on average once or twice a year but that being said, the owner of our unit did not maintain nor upkeep our apartment whatsoever. So there you have my hopefully unbiased opinion of Lanai. Unless you are heir to the Marriott Dynasty or a long time member of the 949 Krew, you will have a less than thrilling time at Lanai. I rented from spring 2015 through winter 2017. ...

Solid ward with the location being really ideal. Parking is amazing and free and the management is super agreeable. I rented from summer 2015 through fall 2016.

Lanai wasnt that bad. I loved the apartment and the location. Parking was also really good. There are some great people in this ward but you need to try to be a little social. I enjoyed living here, but at the same time I didnt feel that I really wanted to stay. After a year and a half I needed a change cause there isnt much change here. I rented from winter 10 through summer 11. ...

The apartments are quite nice, if you want the condo style. The only draw back of this apartment complex is the horrible ward. It is very clique-ish. If you're rich and have a lot of money, you'll probably fit in. If you don't, you'll be outcast. A lot of the people who live in Lanai have been there since it was first constructed, and all belong to a specific group. It was so bad that I left the ward to go to a different one. A month and a half passed and NO ONE called to see where I was. Sad thing is, I was the ward chorister. They should have wondered what was up when no one came to lead the music. Other than the ward, these apartments are nice. The management, Asset Property, was easy to deal with. You just have to be nice. I rented from winter '08 through winter '08. ...

Horrible landlord! The ward is full of guys and few girls. It is a total rip off and you find yourself asking several times why you chose to live there. The social life is pretty lame. Don't live here, even if you are a girl, you'll regret it. I rented from fall '06 through summer '07. ...

If you are a girl go for it, if you are a guy it will suck cuz there are two guys for every girl. Kind of a clickish place and not as social as the setup seems like it would be. Lots of people from California in the ward.

Not a bad complex, little small for my taste and it could be a bit nicer for having to pay $350 year round. The biggest killer is that the ward has 2 times as many guys as girls. I would recommend other places for the price!

For a complex as new as it is, it shouldn't be in the condition it is. The parking is the best around, and I had a very positive experience with my landlord through Asset Property Management. The ward itself isn't bad, but it was a little clique-ish, and there were almost twice as many guys as there were girls! Overall, it was a great place to live, but a little on the expensive side. I rented from fall '06 through winter '07. ...

Lanai is managed through many different property management groups/private individuals. Do not rent through Asset Property Management! They are absolutely horrible--place was a dump when we moved in and they never fixed anything. Always sent maintinence guy over and he always said "I'll be back to fix that." Ridiculous that you have to pay full amount through Spring/Summer. Do get into that trap. I luckily sold my contract but it was an absolute mess trying to get out of it. The Landlord was the worst I've had at BYU. Only good thing is it is close to campus. Older ward (mid 20's). I rented from fall '06 through winter '07. ...

My advice, do NOT live at Lanai. The management does nothing in a timly manner. The price is the same year-round (about $350/month) and you have to sign a year-round contract. The quality: yeah, I could have done a better job. It is barely a year old and it doesn't wear very well. You are better off living at the Belmont, I rented from fall '06 through fall '07. ...
