Wyview is a really great spot to live at if you are hoping to spend the majority of the time in your room. The social atmosphere is pretty bad. At the beginning of the semester, everybody was enthusiastic about getting together and having activities, but over time this fizzled out. Additionally, BYU can enforce policies that were not outlined in the contract. For example, they enforced a "no visitor" policy. This completely cut off any social opportunities. If you enjoy having a social life, then I would recommend leaving as soon as you can like I did. If you enjoy staying in your room working on homework and never interacting with anybody outside of your apartment, then this is definitely the place for you. The RA and HA are not helpful at all, and you should not expect much from them. A pro is that maintenance requests are fulfilled very quickly, and the price is low. But, you also get what you pay for, so you should probably expect a location far from campus as well as a tiny apartment without a dishwasher and also slow wifi. Not the worst apartment if you are trying to save on money, but it was definitely not for me. I rented from fall 2020 through fall 2020. ...

I lived in the 19 and older community at Wyview for the past 3 years. Why? Because the price couldn't be beat. And it's a great study spot. PROS: Now that they have the Ryde Shuttle, its easy to get to BYU campus. Walmart is just down the street. It's right off the main drag to Orem. I had a car and could always get a spot, as there is plenty of parking there. Maintenance was always prompt. I paid about 270 for a shared room and about 320 for a private room which is amazing for a private room in Provo. Laundry is cheap, and is always available. I agree with other reviewers about some aspects of Wyview. They have old looking couches, but they are super comfy. If you get some good roommates, You can keep the place looking clean all the time. It is a far walk from campus, but I didn't mind. I would usually ride the bus to campus and walk home after class. Internet is unreliable. It was manageable for me as it would go out about once a week if it got too bogged down, but once Covid hit, everyone in the building started HD streaming for classes and work, I literally couldn't do anything. The internet provider they have can't support a lot of data, so if you're looking for fast and reliable internet, you need to find somewhere else. If you get the top bunk, you get the big closet, but you hit your head pretty often on the ceiling. I preferred the Private room. Perks of Wyview is it's quiet. So if you're looking for a study spot, Wyview provides you with a good sized desk, and you can get a lot of homework done there. CONS: It's quiet. There's not much to do at Wyview, no community or central gathering spot besides the Wyview office, but it's a multipurpose building that's pretty much just a church, so there's no club house or anything. No Gym either. Not a great spot for a social life. The way the buildings are laid out, most people just keep to themselves, which is sad. Wyview is great for someone who is looking for cheap rent, with a fairly nice place to live who are studious students. I rented from fall 2017 through winter 2020. ...

PROS: price, location, community, safety, maintenance response (though quality is severely lacking) CONS: shoddy construction, active censorship (speech, internet, cable), bullying if you don't fit in, substandard and unsafe appliances, internet or lack thereof. Also, if you have an issue with the apartment or management, you are not allowed to discuss it publicly and the RAs enforce this rule. They are very open about their active censorship and tell you to leave if you don't like it. I rented from fall 2014 through winter 2016. ...

Decent location, reasonable costs, safe environment. Internet is terrible. Extremely slow and fickle connection that often require several days of downtime to fix. BYU blocks benign sites such as IMDB, amazon (homepage) , amazon prime, etc... It is ironic that the Lords university chooses to block IMDB which I use to check parent advisories for movies so I am forced to watch the movies without knowing if it contains questionable content. Recommend using CyberGhost or TOR to circumvent the arbitrary denial of internet access. I rented from winter 2014 through fall 2016. ...

I really enjoyed living at Wyview this past year. It is by far the nicest place for the cheapest price. There are some things about this place that weren't my favorite, but the benefits far outweighed the drawbacks. Cons: The apartments are small, especially the shared rooms. I had the top bunk and was constantly hitting my head on the ceiling whenever I got into or out of bed. There isn't a dishwasher. This probably won't be too big of an issue unless you like to make big meals or bake a lot. Distance: it's about a 20-25 minute walk to campus. There is a shuttle pass that you can get for $100/semester that leaves Wyview twice an hour and drops students off at the Museum of Art, which was really nice. Guy-Girl ratio: There were more than twice as many girls as there were guys this past year, which made the wards pretty lopsided. However, I heard that this upcoming year (Fall 2015) will be a lot better since they are changing Wyview from freshman housing to a 19-years-and-older community. Pros: Price: I paid $228 for a shared room in Fall 2014/Winter 2015. I knew several people who were paying almost $100 more a month for a shared room south of campus. Also, it is super easy to make the payments each month. Everything is done online, and the on-campus housing office sends you a reminder email three or four days before a payment is due. There are no extra fees for doing it online like some other places have. Services: Wyview has a creamery located in the center of the complex stocked with basic foods, such as bread, milk, and box dinners. There is also a large laundry facility in the center of the complex. The regular price is about $2.00 per load in the washing machine, but when you use the student ID card it drops down to around $0.85 per load. The dryers are even cheaper at $0.37 per load. I have never had a problem trying to find an open washer or dryer no matter what time I do my laundry. Maintenance: They are really good about responding to calls quickly, and, as far as I know, they don't charge you for anything. They do everything from unclogging drains to fixing the desks to shampooing the carpets. The people: Wyview is full of down-to-earth people. Everyone is really friendly to each other, and the wards are great. The complex is as social as you make it, and there are almost always people out playing basketball or throwing around a frisbee. Overall, I really enjoyed living at Wyview and plan to come back again next year! I actually rented from Fall 2014 - Winter 2015, but it won't let me select anything later than 2011. I rented from fall 10 through winter 11. ...

Pro: Nice location with easy access to BYU and nearby stores and a very safe community. Cons: NO INTERNET... They say that they provide internet but they do not, it is a lie. They also do not allow you to get your own internet so you are stuck using you phone. It's sad that we we pay millions of dollars annually to the apostles but they cannot spend a few dollars and give the little people the promised and paid for internet. Tenants are not allowed to get their own phone, internet, or cable. BYU provides their version of the internet and cable. Though they say they provide internet and cable, I have been without internet in my apartment for over 5 months... The techs keep coming out but not fixing anything. It is just unbelievable that they say they will provide internet, not do it, and not allow me to purchase it through another provider. In what world is it ok for a student not to have internet for 5+ months? ...

Just a pain that's its so far away, and that you most likely would have to buy a bus pass which makes it about the same as any other housing. but overall, I am enjoying it. I rented from fall 10 through winter 11.

If you are a freshman without a car, DO NOT LIVE AT WYVIEW. There are multiple reasons for this: It is about a 25 minute walk from campus. This is not an issue for classes if you have a shuttle pass, which costs $99. BUT the shuttle stops running every night at 7:00pm. So if you want to stay in the library, or visit friends past that time, then you have to prepare for a long walk by yourself in the dark. This is especially undesirable for girls who do not like walking home alone in the dark. Again, for freshman: most of the freshman you meet on campus (in your classes, or in the library) are from Heleman or New Heritage. What this means is that you might make a friend in one of your classes, but that doesnt do you any good because if you want to hang out with them on any given day, and you dont have a car, you have to make the walk past campus to get there because no one ever wants to hang out at Wyview. Again, the walk wouldnt be so bad if you didn't have to be by yourself, but its hard to find a buddy who wants to walk with you, especially in the cold. It is hard to meet people because its apartment style housing. Some people like this. But for me, being a freshman, I would much rather have the dorm style. Even in the couple nights I have spent hanging out at New Heritage, I have met more people in one night, then I have in months of living at Wyview. This is because unless people are just wandering around outside, (which is rare because theres nothing to do outside of wyview) you can't just meet random people because there is no activity room, no common rooms, and no halls. While I dont have a problem with upper class man, for my first year at BYU, I would definitely prefer to live among other freshman, but there are a lot of upper class man here. The shared rooms are TINY. They are not meant for bunkbeds, but to accommodate the amount of beds they needed, they shoved bunkbeds in the rooms anyways. I had the top bunk, and the ceiling was so low, that I could not even it up in my bed. Sometimes when I would turn over in the night, by head would accidentally hit the ceiling. There is no floor space, the desks are jammed in there. My desk was next to the closet with the swinging door, so if I was sitting in my desk, and my roommate needed to get into the closet, I would have to move in order for her to be able to get in. Do not be deceived by the pictures on the BYU website. The picture of the shared room is literally the WHOLE room. You might think there is more to it, but that small picture encompasses the entire space that is shared between two people. These rooms are TOO SMALL to be shared. The rates of the laundry services are much higher than other freshman housing. Again, if you make friends at Heritage or Heleman, and you just want to hang out with them, but you have no car, GOOD LUCK. Because it will probably be dark by the time you want to return home, and thats a long walk by yourself. Once you leave your apartment for the day, hopefully you didnt forget anything, because there is no time to just walk home really quick and grab whatever it is you left. The walls are SO THIN. At night I could easily hear conversations going on above me. Every time someone opened a drawer I could hear it, and every step above you sounds like a stomp. And if you get immature crazy people above you like I did, don't plan on being able to get to sleep until they finally decide to go to sleep because you'll hear every single thing they do. It is the cheapest on campus housing, but you are getting what you pay for- the cheapest on campus housing. Just overall, especially compared to Heritage, the quality of the rooms is a lot less, the showers are not good, there's no dishwasher, the living rooms are tiny, and again, the rooms are small, especially the shared room. Half of wyview is shared with the MTC. That means that there are missionaries everywhere. This isnt a problem except for laundry. When you're trying to do your laundry and there are missionaries doing theirs at the same time, its just a bit awkward. Theres no outside vanity like in Heritage, so getting ready in the morning is kind of a hassle. While I highly DO NO RECOMMEND wyview for freshman, here are some benefits to it: its right across from the stadium. During football season this is really nice. Once basketball season starts, that benefit ends. Theres tons of parking, so if you are fortunate enough to have a car, you will always have a spot While the couches are old and ugly-looking, they are extremely comfortable If you're on the top bunk, you probably get the walk-in closet, which is very spacious, has plenty of room for hanging clothes, and tons of large shelves. Overall my point is, if you're a freshman with no car, and you're looking for a social life, and a reasonable walk to you place from campus, DO NO LIVE AT WYVIEW. As soon as the semester ends I will be switching out because I could not handle another semester here. ...

After living in both Helaman Halls and Wyview- I can hands down say Wyview was better. I could park right outside my apartment, private rooms were a good size, the couches were comfy, and the entire apartment itself was relatively clean and well kept up! Social life is great- my ward was wonderful and full of down to earth people who actually seemed to uphold the Honor Code, which was nice. I would highly recommend Wyview for anyone's freshman year at BYU. (and I rented in 2012...but it's not listed :) I rented from fall 10 through spring 11. ...

I loved living in Wyview! It has a great atmosphere and the people are very social. It's a great place to live freshman year, but I wouldn't recommend it for upper-classmen because it is mainly filled with freshman. There are a lot of basketball courts and play grounds as well as a sand volleyball court! Laundry is just over by the multipurpose building and creamery. Loved it here! I loved living in Wyview. The couches are SUPER comfortable (I slept there often). The beds are a bit hard, but I used a mattress cover and that worked well. The social life is fantastic, much better than other locations. I loved how we had a mini-creamery super close by so we could get groceries without using gas. The wards were fun too. ...

I lived in Wyview for fall/Winter term and absolutely loved it! the only down side is the distance from campus. although the walk sucked they are trying to implement new things such as a shuttle which makes it a lot better! Wyview is amazing and is a lot better then all of the other freshman housing options except for new heritage that is. A ton of people moved into wyview from other places but no one necessarily moved out of Wyview because they didn't like it there, mostly people leave because of missions :) Live in Wyview you will not regret it! ...

Wyview was a great place to live for Spring term! The apartments are nice and clean, and there's plenty of storage space. The social atmosphere is what I was most concerned about before I moved in, but it turned out to be really social and fun! I got to know about 2/3 of my ward in one term, and there was always something going on that anyone was welcome to. There is also a good mix of freshmen and RM's so people were a bit more mature than in Heritage Halls (where I lived for fall/winter). The people there were very friendly and down-to-earth. Loved it. It's mostly freshman so make sure that's your thing, but otherwise it was good. Way nicer than anything else in the price range and I was getting a nice private room for the same price that my friends had a shared room for. A bit farther but I enjoyed the walk with my mates.
