My opinion based on my experience: after I applied for the apartment, paid the application fee and other fees they call me 2 weeks later after I have given notice, and tell me the rental rate is actually $130 higher than what they originally quoted. When I told than that isn't what we agreed on the she agreed completely, and simply stated that they were unilaterally changing the term of the contract, I said id call their corporate office, and they put me on hold and told me they had a non renovated apartment they could let me have at the original price quoted (as if they were doing me some type of favor) I reluctantly agreed I was about to move in 4 days I didn't have the time to find another place. The apartment smelled damp, the windows were permanently stained with hard water deposits, the kitchen cabinets would not close. What can't be forgiven is the dinner plate sized mold stain above the tub that maintenance painted over. It took about 2 weeks for me to notice it as the it grew. I called the office and I left a message about it, 72 hours later no response. I called again, and still got the voicemail, I decided to go to the office, the 3 ladies sat talking and laughing and ignoring the phone. I explained the mold issue and one of them entered a maintenance request. 2 weeks pass, and finally the mold and moisture actually became so much that a hole opened in my ceiling revealing a series of molded wet wood, I called the office again. No answer. I walked to the office and demanded the issue be resolved. And to be compensated that I had to stay in a hotel now, because the apartment isn't safe. Elaine, stated with no sympathy that they just didn't do that. I informed her its illegal to rent me the apartment with a black mold issue and that I would seek legal recourse. Minutes later a team of maintenance workers remove the ceiling above the tub, leaving the entire area unusable. When I complained about not being able to use the shower Elaine ask me β€œwhat do you want me to say?” I wanted to be put in a hotel but she refused, I suggested a discount off the rent, she refused. So I resorted to driving every morning to the planet fitness to use the shower for over a week. Finally the ceiling was replaced, and left unpainted. Over the next 6 weeks I requested it be painted every week. But after 6 weeks, and with company arriving from out of town, I painted the ceiling myself, when I asked for a discount off the rent. They told me that my issue was cosmetic and the maintenance workers needed to focus on more pressing matters, and I wouldn't get my costs for paint deducted from my rent. 9 months later , I logged in to pay, and the payment was accepted. A few days later I get a notice to vacate or pay. I just went directly to the office because I was aware they would not answer the phone. They told me did not pay. And had a laundry list of fees added to my rent. I disputed this and Jacklyn was helpful, she was usually the only one that would when appear to help. But then the office manager came out and told her that there were account issues and that I should have known about the system changes because of the notices posted. And that I was responsible for all fees. Pay or be evicted. Move out. I cleaned the apartment spotless, hired carpet steamers, and bleached all white surfaces, patched and painted the pinholes, and scrubbed the oven spotless. Elaine did my move out, came in and after only having walked through the kitchen told me I would be charged a $140 cleaning fee for a spotlessly cleaned kitchen, citing for sanitation. I disputed the fees and she said that it was mandatory, I explained that if the law required the complex to sanitize that is t the responsibility of the tenant, but rather part of the complex cost of business. That's when she became condescending and rude back handedly insulting me, and giving false apologies like β€œI am so sorry you feel that you have to disagree” to which I replied β€œyou can keep your half ass apologies to yourself.” She then refused to continue saying id threatened her, and blocked her in. Which isn't what happened at all. I returned to the office, and finally stated that id have some more cleaning done and that id have the key returned by the end of the month. They then to my understanding of Washington law illegally took possession of my apartment and charged me for the key. When I told them that I have a recording of the conversation and the agent told me I could return them by the end of the month, they didn't wait and still charged me. I sent an email to their corporate office and they forwarded back to the complex where Diana sent an argumentative email about why they didn't honor their word. Finally I sent them a final email, and asked them never to contact me again. These are my opinions. The Park at Fox Pointe is a horrible place to live, save yourself the trouble and spend $50 more a month and stay someplace else in Vancouver. You will thank me. ...
