Convincing hubby was like pulling teeth but I did, so we intended on staying.
Lease was to be up September 30th, and come September 14th I realized we did not have a new lease sent out to us so I’d better call and see what’s happening with that. Long
story short after I called I was told that they would not be renewing our lease, and that we should be moving out October 1st or paying $960 a month, month to month. A rent hike from $800 to $960. Needless to say I am done. After 2 days of calling and complaining to the office, and unsuccessfully reaching the owner of the apartment complex I have decided to get a lawyer. I explained to the complex that we were told a TOTALLY different story in August and was told that it didn’t matter, and these are their new terms. We had a lease that ended in September because school began at the end of September so when we would decide to move, we would have the first 3 weeks in September to do so, comfortably as school wouldn’t be. Now of course with 2 weeks left in September we have to scramble during the first week of school to pack, clean, and find a place. This is obviously a huge inconvenience and could have been avoided had I been given the proper 30 day notice of a lease change—or lack there of. However, I am tempted to say, that the hassle is worth the fact that we’re moving. I would also like to point out that our rent payments were paid 4 days in advance every month. Never a late payment, notice or anything of the sort.
In short, my point of this review is just to advise the public on how unprofessional this complex was. They refuse to acknowledge any fault within any situation, and their residents are simply seen as cash cows and not a valued member of a community. To try and be fair I will make a short list of the pros and cons of the complex…
Pros:
Spacious apt home
Maintenance is usually very timely
Indoor and outdoor pools
Cons:
Outdated appliances
Does not recycle
Trash compactors very far and in between
Horrible customer service
Maintenance never gets it right the first time
And a word of advice if one does decide to give these guys a shot, be sure to view the actual apartment you will be living in before signing the lease. I was shown a model apt with a walk in pantry, and two sinks in the kitchen and that was not accurate at all.
Thanks.
I rented from fall '04 through fall '09.
