one saturday night, at about 1:30 am, the water heater decided to spring a leak. l called the emergence number provided by the palisades.i told the maintenance man the problem. he said "can't this wait until tomorrow" ? i told him: you are the maintenance man. if you think it can wait until tomorrow, i guest it can wait until tomorrow. i hung up. 20 minutes later , it was obvious, at the rate the water was rising there was no way it could wait until tomorrow, so i called him back. i told him :if you don't stop this water from leaking now by tomorrow this apartment will be sitting in 2 inches of water. when he finally showed up, the water had covered a large area of the carpet. and guest who had to clean the carpet? me. if he would had come when i first called him i would not have had to clean the carpet. can you say LAZY? ...

The general manager on site is often rude. Today she treated me as if I were not human, banging on my door and asking where's the money? and when? in an ugly fashion. The maintenance does not fix things. They have not fixed issues that were wrong with the apartment when we moved in since August 2007. The sliding glass door is broken, the moisture reducing fan in the bathroom doesn't work, and if we shut the door to our bedroom, we have to jimmie it open with an old credit card. They have remodeled, but it is not nice like it looks in the pictures on the website. There is almost no overhead lighting whatsoever, and you are not allowed to drill holes in the ceiling to put in lamps, because there's lead-containing materials still in the ceiling they've never removed. There's mold growing on the windowsills because they collect so much moisture whenever it rains, the thin sliding glass windows are drafty. Our wiring is shot completely, and we haven't had television in two months, because there's amperage on the line. The wiring in the house was already faulty, blipping in and out when certain appliances are turned on and then a local power surge was the last straw and blew out one of our televisions. We are hoping that it doesn't blow out the new one we had to buy. Every time we reconnect the cable box, it trips the breaker and the lights in half the apartment go out, because there's amperage on the line when there shouldn't be. Almost two months, and the issue has been "looked into" but not touched. For the first month, the maintenance person blamed the cable company (???) when it's obviously not their fault. An electrician who came out to "look at" the issue also agreed it was the shoddy wiring. When I handed the manager our rent today, I asked her when this issue would be resolved, and she acted fairly nonchalant about it, as if she couldn't care less. I had to stand there in order for her to say she'd give me a call. Maintenance barges in whenever they feel like it and are never there when they say they will be, if you can get a time/date out of them. The water coming out of the taps is always brown/yellow, and you must let it run to get halfway clear water. The paint in the tub is peeling and the vinyl shower paneling is coming off the wall. There's one laundry room with one washer and dryer for 8 units, the washer is small and sometimes you have to wait and bump elbows to get your laundry done. The little gym has only one pair of 50 pound dumbbells, a bike, a treadmill and a cross-trainer. I wouldn't. I rented from summer '07 through winter '08. ...
