so this place is about even on the pros and cons, they are nice enough mid 80's apartments (i think they used to be senior housing or something, as there's weird "buzzer" looking things in useless outlets strewn throughout the builing, an "alarm" system that does nothing except emit a horrible shrill noise everytime they do a fire inspection, which is often due to high manager turnover. and all the tubs have handicap bars) each unit has a washer, dryer, dishwasher, & disposal (spotty quality on w/d & dish, disposal has broken in both units i've been in @ least once a year for the past 5 yrs.) and the price isn't bad, considering all the ammenities. However, there is an incredibally high turnover in management here, and the company that owns the building aren't fun to deal with. there's been 5 different managers in the 4-5 yrs we've been here. after the second guy left, they've all been offsite, and we have yet to have any of them be very responsive to issues. This is a huge issue considering there are frequent plumbing problems, things (mainly electrical, break constantly) and there seems to be an unusually high occurrence of flooding. Our first unit flooded once, and also suffered from a leak due to flooding above us, and our downstairs unit flooded once because our neighbours hot water heater burst, and the second time, because our toilet flooded while we were sleeping; a toilet which had been broken for @ least 6 months had weekly work orders stating that the toilet was flooding w/each use submitted for three mos. before flooding, had been "fixed" on @ least 4 separate occasions, each time the plumber concluded that we needed a new toilet, which we finally got the day our entire one bedroom apartment filled w/ an inch of standing water and sewage. We had to nag to be "accomadated" in a vacant unit next door which they had gladly opened to our soaked belongings & their carpet scraps, and "were lucky to get a $50 rent credit after a week of displacement and water damaged belongings. The lack of apology or caring for our situation was further exacerbated by the fact that we learned that the management had been inactive on the new toilet situation, because they don't recieve the work orders, order the work, or speak w/ maintenance or hired workers, it's all handled through the property owners, who apparently are incapable of communication. This seems to be an issue throughout the building as the carpet drying guys are here @ least twice a month, and several other tenants have had issues with "excessive moisture". Lastly, after many years as model tenants we fell behind on rent when I lost my job, and were being threatened w/ eviction and being told how awful we were for being late all the time which had only happened once prior, and w/ the permission of the manager so we could have money for vacation. also, they refuse to work a payment plan out, the manager is cool enough to tell us to just move, cuz it'll be cheaper, but seeing as this lady will be gone in six mos. keep in mind, the company behind this place are money grubbing slum lords posing as a legit business. We will be taking our new managers advice as soon as we can afford a deposit somewhere else. I rented from fall '08 through winter 11. ...
