Run! Run! Run! This is the worst scam! I wish you could put no stars. I never write reviews, but this experience was bad enough other people should be warned. I have stayed in many apartments at many different schools. I unfortunately ignored the bad reviews when looking at this apartment. I decided that it looked super nice and signed a contract. 2 weeks before school I got a huge job and school opportunity at a hospital in another state. So I thought no problem I can get it sold. I spent hours, days, and months trying to sell this place. The management assuring me that they could sell it in a day. The manager only told me this after I had to drive 6 hours to Provo to talk to him. He never answered my calls, texts, or emails. Which is ridiculous! I never was even given an assigned apartment. I never stepped foot on the property until that point. I know that I signed the contract and am responsible but I ended up paying the whole 12 months plus all of the hidden fees and costs when I never even was told which apartment I had. I was even charged all the utilities, administration fees, and insurance when I never stepped foot there. I tried and tried to get rid of it. But every time I would send someone to sign, it was like they fell off the earth. Management promised they would sell my room first, and yet a year went by. They were the most unprofessional I have ever dealt with. I hope they can repent before the last days knowing they took over $8,000 from a student trying to get into medical school! Don’t let anyone you know or love be taken advantage of by these greedy people! Find anywhere else! Their response: Hi McKadee, my apologies for the bad experience. I do just want to inform you that we have no record of you ever texting us (I would be happy to provide your text record to you as well). We do record all phone/text activity automatically through our software so I am not sure why there was a lack of contact. As for us selling the lease we did inform you that we only do this once we are 100% occupied which we still are not. So my apologies if there was a mis-understanding and you were under the impression we would sell it prior to us being 100% occupied. As for the hidden fee's that you mentioned, non are hidden, they are always clearly disclosed prior to move in such as the cost of utilities or administration fee, these are always discussed prior to move in and they are also stated within the lease agreement and website. I do understand as well why you are upset that you were not able to sell your lease, but you did enter into a legal agreement for the whole year. We cannot just negate the contract as this would go against fair housing law and Redstone policy. Please be advised that we do strive to give our residents an outstanding experience but we cannot break the law for any of our residents. We do wish you the best however, and if you do ever wish to come back we would still be happy to help. In addition to this we are under new management starting as of June 2023 and we do have the goal of creating a great environment within the community and great relationships with our residents. Once again, however, my apologies for the bad experience. My response to response: Response to the Response: Interesting! I am so happy you have new management because the last one was horrendous to work with! I also have text and email record. I also left so many messages! And you can't have record of calls when you guys never answered. Nice gaslighting! I never was told about the 100% occupancy! That is flat out untrue! The manager I had to drive all the way to provo to talk to said. " send somebody to me and I can sell your contract in a day". He also said on average it takes 2 weeks to sell a contract here " because it is in such high demand". If the management was okay, then why did you have to change management? Doesn't that prove a problem. I held up my end of the contract you got every last penny. However I still have not received my deposit from you people. I also never asked you to do anything illegal! And nice try with the legal jargon. The Fair housing act has to do with discrimination of race, color, sex, religion, national origin and disability. It has nothing to do with occupancy. I would like to see what law you are reading from because I am finding no such law. You have treated me poorly and really could have done better. I am trying to warn people to save their money. Your response proves the point. This is exactly why I am telling people. It looks to me like the new management is just like the old. Thanks for the invite, but I will never sign a contract with you dishonest people again! ...

Management is terrible. I called the other day to schedule a pickup for the bed they provide and the guy I spoke with had no clue what or how to do what I was asking. He then placed me on hold for ten minutes just to have the call transferred to a woman with a horrible attitude. She was not happy to help, although she got it scheduled. The only reason I stay is because rent is slightly better than everywhere else I've checked and the ward itself is great. Management really needs to be replaced by those who want to work and do it willingly. Pulling tooth and nail just to get basic things some. I rented from spring 2017 through fall 2019. ...

So, I lived at this complex for two years. Our dishwasher was broken the entire time, and management was generally unpleasant. When eventually they did "fix" the dishwasher--no, they didn't actually fix it--they threw a part on the doorstep and never came back, even though my roommates and I told them multiple times that the dish washer was still broken. Cars regularly get broken into in the parking lot, and anyone who says this place is good is also probably on the payroll: as of summer 2018, management still pays people to give good reviews. If you value your standard of living at all...I wouldn't live here. Or if you value living at all. Multiple suicides and health-related deaths in the past year. Maybe this place is secretly cursed for bad business practices. I rented from fall 2016 through winter 2018. ...

This place is pretty garbage, for a minimum $375/month. The amount of intrusions management has made on my apartment is truly staggering - it seems that they have some reason to send some random maintenance guy to my apartment every couple of weeks or so for some reason or another. You would think, at that rate, the places are kept fairly well in-order. You'd be wrong. My bathroom door got jammed shut for a solid week before management deemed it necessary to have maintenance come by and help - I guess it was their off-week. Then you have management themselves; you had better hope you never have any reason to contact them at all. The office manager is as bad as they come - email a simple question, and she'll call you at random, completely interrupting whatever it was you're doing with your life. And, hoo boy, will she let you know it inconvenienced her to call you. That will be made abundantly clear by the amount of unwarranted sass she'll send your way. But you'll want to chin up and bear it, or she'll hold a grudge and find absurd reasons to make your life hell for the remainder of your contract. Fees, more maintenance intrusions, auto-flunks on cleaning checks, you name it. Parking is pretty mediocre, too. There's no covered parking whatsoever, and parking always seems to be congested, as though nobody planned for the amount of residences here. Honestly, for quality of life? You're probably just better off forking over the extra $25-50 in rent and going someplace a little nicer. I rented from spring 2017 through spring 2018. ...

I lived here for 3 years, and I can't believe it took me so long to move out. The location is my absolute favorite, the wards are great, and the apartments are pretty nice, but management is a MESS. The people in the office have no clue what they are doing. When i first moved in they put us in the wrong apartment with the wrong roommates and tried telling us it was our fault even though we had done the application correctly. The hot tub was broken for 8 MONTHS and they just kept telling us it would be fixed soon. They tried to kick my roommate and me out early even though we had re-signed. They charged me a fee for not turning in my key when i moved out when i know for sure that i did, but they say it wasn't recorded, like it's my fault that they didn't record me returning my key. Freaking joke. If you can live here without ever dealing with management, it's great. But management makes it not worth it. I rented from fall 2014 through summer 2017. ...

I heard good things about The Crestwood, and from the outside it looks really nice. The wards are amazing and very social. Parking has not really been an issue at all, which is always a blessing. The location is on point, close to everything I need. The price is pretty fair for what you get. The biggest downside of Crestwood is easily the management. I've had friends complain before, but you don't really know until you experience it yourself. When I first got to Crestwood there was a huge whole in the ceiling just outside the door, with insulation falling out. It took management several days to get someone to spend five minutes or less to put it back. It also took several days to put covers on electrical outlets (which is very bad), and fix the hole in the kitchen where the doorbell was supposed to be (we had two doorbell buttons, but no doorbell. Just wires sticking out.). The toilet also leaked, and it took two weeks and a threat to void the contract in order for them to fix it. The threat also got them to finally cover a hole in the wall by the fireplace, and after I removed the closet doors so I could actually get into my closet (they were stuck and would not open), they removed the closet doors. The apartment was not clean when I moved in, and after asking management 3 or 4 times, over the course of these same two weeks, to have someone come and clean it, they told me to stop emailing them regarding the apartment. REALLY?! I would not bother management if the place was cleaned and looked presentable. I took pictures of the apartment before I moved in, and apparently the cleaning crew has come in and cleaned what we asked for every time. The reason it is dirty is because we are living there. That is an understandable statement, except for the fact that a shower head cannot go from clean to 3 different colors of calcium in 12 hours. Sorry, it just won't. Crestwood itself is fine, but management is difficult to work with, and doesn't want to actually do their job. If you are fine living at a place where management sucks, then by all means, Crestwood is the place for you. But if you ever need to contact management, go somewhere else. I wrote an essay ... and didn't even get to put it all when I copy-pasted, so here's some more or my review: 5. In both apartments I was in we replaced almost all of the light bulbs, it seems they put in the cheapest lightbulbs possible, because almost every single one of them was burnt out while we were there so we spent $30-$40 on lightbulbs for the apartments. 6. In the second apartment I was in there were 2 areas that had 6ft each of worn through carpet (like you could see the floor below the carpet). Looked like it needed to be replaced years earlier. We got a notice one time that they were going to replace the carpet. (Hurray!). However they informed us during finals week and gave us a 2 day notice, also during finals week. They had requirements for us, we needed to removed all of our stuff out of carpeted areas, we were told they'd show up between 9am-5pm to start replacing the carpet. 8am that morning I got out of the shower wrapped in a towel and found two older guys in the apartment moving the larger stuff (couches, beds, etc) outside to sit on the stairwell for the carpet guys… they complained to me that we had all of our stuff in the kitchen (where else were we supposed to put our stuff?). Well, I hadn't eaten yet, so I just left without eating breakfast. When my roommate got back around 1pm he still saw all of the stuff outside all over the stairwell so waited around outside for 2.5 hrs, I told him he should just go inside anyway and check on their progress. Turns out they had finished with the carpet (thanks for telling us), because nobody was there, but everything was still sitting outside. Well, my roommate called me to let me know that they were gone, so I came back and met up with my roommates to start moving everything back in. Everything that you could pass on the way out the door and down the stairs was covered in old carpet dust. We bought ourselves a nice vacuum, and over the course of several hours moved all our stuff back in. About 5pm the manager showed up and wanted to check on the carpet work of those that put it in. They did fine with the carpet, but I showed the manager the ceiling that's falling in right outside out door and asked him if he could fix it, and he said β€œLooks like somebody climbed up in the roof and fell through the ceiling … [well, duh] … I just need to have a guys come over and put it back together, shouldn't take long to do” … needless to say, nobody ever came, and the ceiling still looks like it is falling apart right outside our apartment door. At 7pm the two guys that were there in the morning came, knocked on the door, and said β€œlooks like you put everything back yourselves, anything else not put back yet?” … you mean we didn't have to spend 3-4 hours moving everything back during finals week! thanks for showing up 6 hours after the carpet people were done… 7. In the first apartment I was in the apartment above us had a toilet that overflowed … a lot, and we were watching water leak down the walls and drip from the ceiling and get all over the carpet in the living room, in both bedrooms and completely drenched everything that was in our bathroom underneath theirs. I went up to talk to them to tell them their bathroom was leaking those people said, β€œYa, we know, we read that there's a $20 fine if you call management outside of office hours if it's not an emergency, so we are going to wait till tomorrow to tell them.” ARE YOU SERIOUS! I told them I'll cal on their behalf, and I did, and they came, and by that time half of our living room was super gross with toilet water, and a good 10 ft into each bedroom, and the water bunched up between the paint in the walls, and has since dried, so there are huge lumps in the walls now (we took pictures, it's awful). Over the next week they tore up the carpet, replaced the foam stuff underneath the carpet, did a carpet cleaning, and replaced the metal bar that goes between the carpet and the tiles in the kitchen. Very shortly after the tiles started to break (and now they're very broke) because the metal piece was put down so when you step on it, the tiles cracks. The old one they replaced I got cut on a couple times walking barefoot, so I preferred the broken tiles. I put in a maintain request to fix the tiles, I've since visited that apartment a couple times, and they're all still broken. 8. The bathroom facet broke in that apartment too. 9. In between moving apartments I went to the office and asked what is do be done with our stuff between the time that we're supposed to turn in our apartment keys of our old apartment and get the keys to our new apartment. The answer I got, β€œYou should put your stuff in your car overnight.” I told them that I would not do that, and told them that I was going to put my stuff in the living room instead, and so will all my roommates (we all moved into the same apartment). β€œWell, if it's dirty though, we'll charge you.” I assured them it'd be clean. When I turned in my keys, they told me I needed to turn in my parking pass too I specifically brought up the issue of not having a parking pass over night and potentially getting booted, but they told me I needed to buy a new one anyway, so to go get it. I did, I turned it in, and I got up in the morning, and my car was booted, and I missed class because of it. I had to wait for the office to open complained to the manager, he told me I shouldn't have given up the parking pass … I recounted my experience with them the night before, and he's like β€˜who told you that?' … like I know their names … he took care of it, thankfully, so I didn't have to pay for it, but what a pain in the butt. I was charged $50 for a new parking pass … I discovered that the parking pass I received was exactly the same as the parking pass I turned in (they both had the same expiration date). So I asked why I was paying for an identical parking pass that I shouldn't have needed to turn in in the first place. I was told that every resident was to buy a new parking pass I assured the office lady that I was the only one paying for a new one, because she specifically charged it to my account, she denied, I pressed, then she looked it up and agreed that I was being charged, and she put it on my account. Well, because I did this first, I informed my roommates to not turn in their parking passes, and they weren't charged an extra $50 … I feel like the manger does every notorious sneaky thing to make or save a buck, sure doesn't speak to his reputation… This was the second time I was booted btw, but the other time the management made me pay for the boot. 10. There's a billiards table in the lounge, but because you can only check out the equipment to use it during office hours, nobody ever uses it, because people would only use it in the evenings, after office hours … they have cameras in case something gets broken, can't they just leave it out? 11. the hot tub was emptied in november 2016 for having too much chlorine. … the hot tub got filled back up again in July 2017 … I thought we were paying for the privilege to use the spa? 12. weight room is awkward, and doesn't feel like the equipment has ever been cleaned 13. Every time you talk too the manage 14. My roommates and I had to pay extra for utilities one time (it was like $1 extra) during a month when I'm sure we didn't use very much, because we stopped using the heater, and barely started using the AC (it was somewhere around may or april). We were on the first floor in that apartment, and the people that clean the carpet filled up their truck with water from our kitchen sink … I'm pretty sure we got charged because the carpet cleaning people filled up their truck with water that came out of our apartment. When crestwood charges people they take a % if it's a credit card transaction, or a flat rate ($5?) if it is directly from the bank (which is dumb because everywhere else that you cam make a checking account deposit it's free). So we were charged more as a transaction fee than the bill was, and they charge you extra is you don't pay it off in 5 days … any my roommate didn't, and got charged like $10 for a $1 extra fee that he shouldn't have had to pay in the first place. Can you tell I've grown to despise the management? I recommend Crestwood to nobody. I do have to note though, that the ward I lived in is a great ward, the people are great, and the apartment really isn't that bad, but I hate talking to the management, and so does everybody else; they just seem mean everytime you need something from them, unless you're looking for a parking pass for a friend to stay overnight, and I think the manager trains those he hires to be that way, because that's how he handles things. In order to be BYU approved, I believe that residents need to either be attending school, or going to institute. I'm quite certain that a large portion of the residents do neither, and instead hide out in their rooms indefinitely. Also, for those that don't like cleaning, the clean checks are almost non-existent. They don't actually look very closely at anything … if you vacuum, clean the bedroom mirrors, and wipe off the counters/table, then you pass with flying colors … I prefer better clean checks, because then I wouldn't move in to a disgusting apartment. I rented from fall 2016 through summer 2017. ...

Let me start by sharing the good things about Crestwood since I have a large list of bad things. The ward I was part of was great, couldn't ask for better. The apartments are ok. Residents each have a private room. Including everything for Gold it costs a little more than $470 a month, including everything (parking, utilities, paperwork, application fee, etc). They are great about letting people stay overnight, never had a problem with that, and getting a temporary parking permit for that individual. Roughly a third of the residents go to UVU, a third to BYU, and a third just work. There is a nice patio area behind the clubhouse, and they have a frequently used volleyball court. Note: I stayed here for a year Now for the bad things: 1. My first experience with the management: every time I talked to management I was caused to feel like everything was my fault, a superiority attitude … manager is not nice to talk to. I talked to the office within a couple days of showing up to crestwood and showed them that in the contract they promised β€˜free high speed wireless internet'. My concern was why they didn't have a router for the wifi part. I have lived in 10+ apartment complexes, I've seen a lot of things, but nobody nobody has promised me that without providing a router before, so I was disappointed. Of course the google fiber 5GB is free in provo, but 5GB isn't β€˜free high speed wireless internet' as the Crestwood documentation promised. This is what the manager told me … and I quote: β€œThat's like saying you can come use the pool for free but you have to bring your own swimsuit”. That's the dumbest thing I have heard up to that point. It's like the manager is egging you on to get more mad at him. I could have handled it better if he wasn't so rude to me. A router doesn't cost that much, but I would have liked to be notified that there actually isn't free wifi. 2. I switched apartments half way through my year of living at crestwood and went to scout out the other apartments before I moved into the other one. The freezer was not working for 1 year in this specific apartment (so said the current residents, whom I believe), so I went to the office to make sure that they would fix it before I moved in. This was 3 weeks before move in day. I visited the apartment again 5 times before I moved in, and subsequently visited the office 3 more times to ensure that'd get fixed. Lo and behold, we moved in and not only did the freezer not work, the fridge didn't work either and the fridge smelled really bad, and put in another maintenance request (it was completely empty, and we cleaned it several times). I went back to the office to complain about it again because I had a bunch of frozen meat I needed to keep frozen …I ended up leaving it in my old apartment until they fixed the freezer, which they did do a couple days after we moved in. The freezer never completely got fixed though, because my ice cream was completely melted every other day. The freezer door is also slightly misaligned so cold air constantly seeps out of it, but we were told it's not a big enough deal to have it fixed. (Except we get charged for utilities). 3. When we complained about the fridge smelling bad and they didn't come fix it after 2 times complaining, we told them we're just going to take the fridge apart and fix it ourselves, We were told β€œIf you break the fridge you'll have to pay for it” … it was broken in the first place, and there was a huge wave of β€˜stink' everytime we walked into our apartment, so yes, we took it apart cleaned out the inside of the fridge with was caked with gunk and it all of a sudden smelled better… 4. 1.5 months later out kitchen sink got clogged, badly and we couldn't get it unclogged. We put in a maintenance request and asked them to hurry and a couple days later we couldn't handle it anymore and bough a bunch of stuff at the store to get it fixed, also the garbage disposal was dripping water on the floor underneath the sink. A week after we fixed it a guy came by to fix it and said, β€˜oh I guess you fixed your sink'. He looked at his list and said β€˜does your fridge smell?' (REALLY?!?) … we showed him a couple more things that were wrong with the apartment and he said he'd be right back (he had zero equipment with him) and never came back, note, it was almost 5, but why did he say he'd be back and not come back? One of those items we asked him to fix was a super loud and annoying fan in one of the bathrooms. Also that same bathroom has a toilet that turns on to refill EVERY 10 seconds. That other stuff we showed him never got fixed. How was he expecting to fix anything in the first place if he didn't have any tools with him? I rented from fall 2016 through summer 2017. ...

Beware shady management practices. I wish we would have read other reviews of this place before sending our daughter there to live. It appears the manager has some underhanded deal with the towing company that polices the place. My daughter paid for rent and also paid extra for parking. After her first night, she came out to find a boot on her car and a note saying it would be $60 to remove it. We contacted the manager and proved we had paid for parking. He said he didn't care and we would still have to pay the towing company to have it removed. It's a real shame that this housing complex is associated with BYU and the church. They should be ashamed to take these students money like this. I hope that BYU will look into this and maybe even remove them from their approved housing list. Crestwood Apartments has probably been one of the best apartment complexes I've been to yet. In the others I've lived in I had a terrible experience. Excessive cleaning checks, old moldy rooms, shared bedroom, no internet, no A/C, bugs/infestations, no parking, outrageous parking prices, creepy social setting, miserable useless management, etc. I've kinda seen it all. Crestwood offers private rooms (decently, I'd say large, size). The management is always friendly, and responds well to questions or requests for maintenance. The clubhouse is pretty nice, as well as the pool and hot tub setting (though I haven't used them yet...). The first week I was here I asked if I could get some electrical sockets replaced and the faucet looked at (seemed like I had low water pressure). Within a week or so the management came out, replaced the sockets, completely fixed the water pressure, and even fixed a pretty bad leak they found under the sink when fixing the water pressure. Anyway, they seem to be really good. The parking is a semi-bitter, mostly-sweet pro for me. It's only $50 a year for parking, and there is always more than enough space to park (at any time of day or night). I just wish there was some covered parking of some sort. It's been rough over the winter because my car gets hit so hard by the Utah snow. Other than that, it's a great deal. I have no real complaints. The high speed internet is ace. The heater/AC work great and it's so good to have them again! The complex is in an isolated place on the outskirts of Provo. It's perfect for me. I hate being inside Provo more than I have to be for school. I like Orem much better and can get to the mall/gym/restaurants in just a couple of minutes. When signing up for a contract, Crestwood asks you some questions to find roommates you'd most likely be compatible with. I can't complain. I used it and thought it wasn't really going to do anything, but I was put into an apartment with a bodybuilder and quiet roommates (I'm an extremely avid gym goer and gamer so it's awesome for me). Last thing I'll mention is cleaning checks. They are extremely reasonable. I think there's only one per semester (I've had 2 and I've been here from Aug 2016 to March 2017 so far. Also they aren't extremely nit picky and tell you to do things that aren't possible (like my last apartment complex that wanted us to make a 70 year old room look like new, get all dents and scuffs out of the walls and molding). I have recommended the Crestwood to several people (and was referred here by another friend who loved it) and would recommend to almost everyone! I rented from summer 2016 through spring 2017. ...

I have lived at The Crestwood for two terms and I have been very pleased with this apartment situation. I like that there is a vanity in every room. I have loved the storage in the kitchen. I never feel like I don't have enough room for my food or kitchenware. Another thing I love about Crestwood is its location. It is separated from the busy, crowded BYU student area, there is a park close by, and it feels as if there is a bit more breathing room here. I would recommend! My daughter just moved in. Her room was dirty so we had to clean before we could unpack. The window lock and screen are broken by the front door which I s very concerned about. Her sink is clogged in her room. I called and my daughter turned in her papers for fixing. It's been 10 days and nothing had happened. The manager I spoke with wasn't willing to help at all. I worry about the safety. Very disappointed in this place. Really dirty and I'm sure they collected a cleaning deposit. ...

I've loved living in the Crestwood! They are very friendly. There is always something going on. The price and location are great. Manager is always easy to work with I rented from winter 11 through summer 11.

I live in the condos at Crestwood and they are great! Crestwood is a very social apartment complex. There are always activities going on. The apartments are well taken care of and the maintenance is quick and accurate. The management is also friendly and very helpful. I would recommend living at Crestwood! I rented from fall 10 through winter 11. ...

I actually lived here from Summer '13 to Spring '14. Reading through the past reviews, I really am shocked that people think so poorly of Crestwood! I loved living there, and only moved because I needed to save some money for school this fall. I thought management was great, cleaning checks were generally really easy (almost ridiculously easy-- one of my roommate's rooms was a mess and she passed with only a little note to clean up the leftover taco salad on her desk :P). There's plenty of parking, and an awesome ward. I made great friends with my roommates and others in the complex and I'll be going back to visit them often. Utilities are a flat rate of $50 which is a little crazy, but I didn't mind too much as the apartment itself was so nice. Personal vanity in each room was an added bonus, along with a gas fireplace in the living room, which is great during the winter. I rented from summer 10 through spring 11. ...

This place is a nightmare. The staff are less than worthless. I had black mold growing in my apartment and informed the staff about this as soon as I saw it. After 2 weeks of multiple phone calls and maintenance requests and nothing being done about the problem, I bought an at-home black mold testing kit from the Home Depot and confirmed that it was, in fact, black mold. I took the petri dish that was nearly overflowing with the mold sample into the front office to show them that it was a real problem. They then became angry that I took it upon myself to test for mold and told me they would get around to fixing the problem. I told them I was moving out because they were refusing to fix the problem and renter's law in Provo gave me the right to move out without consequences and they had to return my security deposit in full. A month after I moved out, I received a check for approximately four dollars. The staff took it upon themselves to charge me another months rent and took it from my security deposit even though they had no legal right to do so. I have tried to contact them multiple times and always am given the promise that "someone will get back to [me]" and they never do. Avoid this place at all costs. I rented from winter 11 through spring 11. ...
